Re: brake booster delet

Just out of interest, what would be the benefit of this apart from a slightly cleaner engine bay? I get going for an oversized MC for more braking powaa but deleting the booster just seems a little dangerous for no real gains.

Re: brake booster delet

Ya, cleaning up the bay, weight reduction...

Not as heavy as the abs unit but still.. Brake booster with oversize MC would be overkill and too touchy and sensitive for me, that's what I'm trying to get rid of and really feel the road, everything power assist takes away from the feel. It's no more dangerous than a manual steering rack to me, or removing a front sway bar. My car would not be driven very often and I consider taking it to the track we have our here. That's where I will truly learn what is good and bad. Easy mod to remove or restore.

Re: brake booster delet

Trouble is static, most of the lads asking these questions are barely past puberty, have very little real practical driving experience and don't comprehend the difference between traffic in the real world vs video games. Seriously.
I know youngstas with high end gamer setups for their online racing games, and actually figure that helps when they climb behind the wheel of their shiney new camaro mommy & daddy co-signed for.

Re: brake booster delet

woopsy doodle...!

hope its not me encouraging them to do what they want on crowded or even just public roads (kids can jump out of anywhere).... I know...
But those childrens who think I would condone that activity on a day to day, to go out and rip 5hit up would be the first to have me spit in their sauce...

I am responsible as it comes, people used to pass me more in my prelude than in my kia, and thats ALOT. I drove my lude nice and easy. I took a sick struggling 350 dollar lude and made that engine bearing last another 67000km roughly.. I got it @ 270,000ish and she dies at 336Km. Once a week (maybe more) I would open up on an empty highway, I know all the curves, speed traps, merge points, etc.. I choose wisely where to drive 200+ kmh. Thats why I want a car that can get to that speed quickly, so it doesnt take forever to get there. And brakes, brakes that wont break... Threshold braking is one of my passions in life, all the youngs fux should read up on that, get to know it, love it, do it in the rain, alone, 3 am and have excuses ready for the cop why u are braking like an idiot @ 3 am on empty long road by warehouses in industrial area which is dead at night. There are ways to be clever. Whoever is doing this during rush hour should enjoy their drivers license while they have it...
Since 2010 I have had roadstar gold, which is like 40% or more off for good driving. My insurance is dirt cheap bcuz I am not a liability. Even though I do speed, when its smart too. I dont know how that can ever make sense to a young mind that knows better in every case and scenario. They should just know I was once like them and I totalled a 91 mustang in June 98, when I was 17. I went 160 in a 50, I guess the other car couldnt gauge my speed coming in and they darted across the road anyways. The stang fishy'd and that was the end of that ford. I was lucky not to get any worse than a bruised forearm from the airbag and a battery in the windshield. I tried to go around the other car. But being inexperienced I tapped the brake as I swerved around the car that stopped in front of me stuck like a deer. Stang front end is heavy, rear is light, I learned not to tap the brake hard mid swerve, if anything power through with gas. But being young, you think that the brakes will always save you like the magic clappers they are.. No sir.. I take brakes seriously, sometimes I forget that some of the peoples dont. If they cant do a little research and they are capable of fashioning a plate, its a little worrying that they are willing to do brake mods now that you guys mention it...
I wonder if I can run two MC's..?

Re: brake booster delet

You would need to change the pedal ratio as well. I was going to do this to my 5th gen when my it was having issues with the ABS system. Its not the difficultly of doing it but actually doing it properly with all the correct stuff and pieces needed. Id would give up power brakes for manual any day just for the better braking feel. BUT ABS system is more advanced and could really help you out in a bad situation. I decided it was easier to get another ABS unit then to delete my entire system and add in a wilwood kit. If I was building a show car I would sure as hell delete the entire system and go manual brakes because its so much easier to convert it while everything is taken out of the engine bay. As far as daily life or weekend warrior I would keep ABS. Example my buddys 4th gen got in an accident when some lady decided to slam her brakes, now if his abs system was working it would have stopped him before he ended up hitting the bumper of her car with it not working he ended up sliding a few more feet forward. Clearly if its a show car only you won't need to worry about things like that because normally show cars are kept parked / hidden away.. unless your definition of show car is to pop your hood at meets and tell all your dumb friends omg i deleted abs and the master cylinder.. but hey its up to you
