car turns over but no fuel on rail

Hey guys so I connect all the hoses and the vacuum hoses..
After that I tried to start the car and it wouldn't turnover,i did hear the fuel pump prime,so i check the the fuel rail no fuel coming out.
My first thing I'm going to check is the main relay, the fuel pump, and fuel filter and ICM.The car has been sitting for 2 years so I would love to get this car goin..
Any suggestions that I haven't said that might be a solution to this..
I would appreciate it ty PZ

Re: car turns over but no fuel on rail

How old is the fuel in the tank? My thought there is possibly a clogged filter from gasoline sitting in it for 2 years. Used to be fuel lines clogged with varnish, but modern fuel generally doesn't gel anymore, just leaves a nice thick layer of varnish and with ethanol...pfft, rock candy crust-age.

When we go to store a car (at S&SPOG) we run the engine with mega doses of marine fuel stabilizer for a few minutes. Now if you are storing it because the motor broke...can't cycle it through the system. But you can put in about 2x what they call for in the tank. I had one with a broken engine that would turn over and eventually start when I parked it.
I twisted the key a few times to at least get the fuel line full of stabilized fuel. 8 months later, the sumb1tch started in like 15 seconds...it was still broken, but it drove under it's own power a couple miles to the motor swap shop. I attribute it to adding all that stabilizer.

Re: car turns over but no fuel on rail

The gasoline was about 2 yrs old,I did drained the old fuel.i added new fuel,it still didn't solved the solution.i will check the filter to see if it's clogged,I did research it might be the main relay, for the car sitting for 2 yrs I wonder if the circuit board is fried for sitting in the heat so long.

I would appreciate it ty PZ... ...I will check the filter to see if it's clogged
If you hear the pump run, then it most likely ISN'T the main relay. AND Even if the filter was really clogged, you should still get some gas out. You can make sure that it isn't a stopped up filter by removing the inlet hose that comes from the tank and into the filter, putting it in a bottle or can to catch the fuel, and turn the key to on, but don't crank it. You should get a decent flow of gas. If it's just a trickle, then I am going to suggest that either the impeller came loose from the fuel pump motor and just the motor is spinning, Or the rubber hose that connects the Fuel pump to the Fuel pump assembly hard line coming out of the tank is loose or dry rotted. This would Leak, keeping the pump from being able to push the fuel out of the tank.

Either way, sounds like you will have to take the pump assembly out to see.

Be sure to Replace that rubber hose while you have it out and get some good clamps to hold it onto the fittings. Also, replace the "sock" or pickup filter, and make sure that the pump is seated all the way down on the Fuel pump assembly.

Re: car turns over but no fuel on rail

In that case, I think that either the banjo bolt that attaches the fuel line to the Fuel Pump Assy is loose, or the hose is cracked. Most likely the 2nd guess if you have never touched that bolt.

No... Just the hose coming off of it that connects the pump assy to the hard line on the car.

Re: car turns over but no fuel on rail

No Autozone doesn't have it... I looked...

I also looked on a few of the honda OEM parts sites and looks like it is discontinued.

This is the P/N: 17707-SS0-A31

What year do you have? I looked up a 92 but not sure if there are any changes in the later models of thet GEN.

I did find a couple replacement banjo bolts that may work, and you may also be able to find some on eBay or Amazon, or just re-use yours... But first...

Make sure that your hose is in fact leaking before you do anything else.

Thanks for adding that link Noober! I had searched that site for something else a while back but for some reason it wasn't in my Saved Searches folder of Honda Parts stores... But it is NOW!

NW123, Be sure to call and ask if they have the part before just ordering it online... It will save you a BUNCH of time wondering if it is on it's way... Or NOT!

Re: car turns over but no fuel on rail

^^ this.
Majestic and HPN will send an email requesting action if you order something out of stock.
But some places like Bernardi may have the items in their inventory still.
Bernardi is a dealership that sells parts online where Majestic and HPN are side projects of dealerships and use the big Honda warehouses.

In Canada there is a 'Colonial Honda' that does same as Bernardi. They have really cool swag there we don't get in the US

Re: car turns over but no fuel on rail

Auto Zone carries what sells a lot. And there isn't a lot of demand for a lot of parts that were not shared among a bunch of Honda made cars.

You might find it at NAPA, parts geeks or rockauto, or you may end doing a custom made thing.

Re: car turns over but no fuel on rail

I vote for custom made hose. Autozone sell the bulk replacement hose without the fittings. You may be able to reuse your stock fittings. If so, be sure to use GOOD Fuel Injection hose clamps and not those heater hose screw type ones. They give way too easily. The fuel injection hose clamps have a bolt that clamps the two sides together... AZ usually has those back my the universal fuel filters, just in case the counter guy doesn't know where they are kept. I think I saw a replacement banjo fitting on the AZ website, but it was like $20. You should be able to find one online or maybe Oreilly has them. They have a LOT of Misc parts like that in the back.

Re: car turns over but no fuel on rail

Hey guys to keep you updated so I check around the fuel pump everything was good no bad hose or banjo nut..
I check the drain bolt and from doing my research the washer with the drain bolt suppose to be snug, and bad washers need to be replace or fuel will leak. The washer I had was really loose around the nut and it wasn't snug..I was still getting fuel to the rail, and the filter...
So I decided to check my spark plugs, and they were a burn blackish color..so I may have to change the plugs any suggestions which spark plugs to get.

Aside from the soot, Does the electrodes look damaged? If not, Maybe you can clean them up just to see if that clears up your starting issue.
