95 Prelude h22a No start plz help

Hello again everyone I need your guys help bad. I just got my license back after a year my car has been sitting a while I did start it a few times but not enough I guess. So the other day I go to start it sprayed a little brake cleaner in throttle body and it wants to start I push on the gas while cranking and it starts revs up a little and dies the dash shuts off and everything I did some research and everyone says its no fuel. So yesterday I put the gauge on the fuel rail cranked it and was like 30 something psi I heard it should be 45 . Is that good enough? Can it still be the pump or main relay? Sorry if this been asked already and for the long message. I just downloaded the manual so I'll keep trying

Any chance your neighbor kids with scotters saw your idle auto as an "old faithful" for free gas?

How old is the fuel in the tank?

Eh, dumb? Maybe not. We all do things that kinda seemed like a good idea at the time.

Add some fresh gas and see if that helps.
Oh, and in the future, put in stabilizer.

I'll try that could the fuel just be too old. With 30psi fuel pump should be good right and if there's good pressure then the main relay should be good too right or does that have nothing to do

Clutch safety switch.

Probably oughta be above checking for fuel on a list of why a stick shift car won't start.

Good find!!!!

Re: 95 Prelude h22a No start plz help

Anyone have a picture of the connector used on the scanner for OBD 1 also if there's a pic of where it is on the car. My friend has a snap on scanner with a bunch of different connections but don't see which one it is I also wanted to make sure its the right one on the car

Uhh, I'm fairly sure you can't hook up a scanner to OBD1 Preludes, there simply isn't a diagnostics port. The best you can do is bridge out the two pole service connector (it's hidden behind the radio) and count the flashes you get on your check engine light.

Re: 95 Prelude h22a No start plz help

That scanner, when plugged into your "diagnostics port" simply counts the flashes that the ECU is sending and tells you what code you have based on what it has been programmed with, it's not really doing anything you can't do with a paperclip and the service manual and if it is not programmed correctly then it could be providing false information on what CEL you are getting.

The code 21 though suggests either A) a wiring fault somewhere between the ECU and the solenoid or B) a faulty solenoid. You can diagnose if it is the wiring fairly easily with a multi-meter, if the wiring checks out then replace the solenoid. What else ya got?

Please download the service manual, pretty please. You can find it either Here or Here

Re: 95 Prelude h22a No start plz help

I got lost somewhere in this thread. Went from the car don't start to no vtec with some talk of a scanner in there somewhere.

So....let us back up a frame or two.
What got the car to start?

The clutch safety switch plug was all messed up I got a new one and it started. that's what the pic above is about. But now no vtec and no CEL. Could it be that the screen is plugged?. Do I gotta remove the water inlet housing to remove the vtec solenoid
