CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

Just started the car, CEL came on code 41. So, I checked the connector and it was totally fried! I bought another connector, now i tried to wire it but the colors are different from what i have seen online.

The colors of the sensor are White, White, Black, Grey. There are 4 wires running from the ECU A6,A25,D14 and D22.

How do i match up the wires?

Engine: H22A
ECU: P13

Re: CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

So are the wires still intact in your 'fried' connector?

I take it you are splicing on a pigtail to the wires that run from the sensor to the ecu?

If so note place in connector of each wire and use the new stuff in the same position.

Example, old blue/white wire is bottom left on female side of connector, new wire for bottom right on male side would go there.

Can you post a photo or two of your situation? It would make it easier to help in this case. One of the fried connector from say a foot or so away and one of the new part...

Re: CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

Thanks bykfixer,

I replaced the connector, cut the wires of the sensor and the wires that run from the ecu. Spliced the wires, CEL gone but the car still runs like a crap!

Do i need to change the wires from the ecu?

i will post some photos later.

Re: CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

Did you unplug your battery to reset the ecu?

If the wires were damaged you may have to replace a few feet or all the way to the ecu perhaps...or perhaps the non working sensor caused enough soot from running rich to gunk up your cat, which should be able to clear up with some time...

Question for the ages is, what caused the connector to become fried? Perhaps the sensor was damaged...

Re: CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

I did reset the ecu. I will replace the wires for the ecu and see if it solves the problem, otherwise i will have to replace the sensor itself.

I don't know really what happened to the connector, when i took it out it just cracked in my hand.

Re: CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

So that leads me to think the wiring somehow got between the heat shield and exhaust pipe instead of being between the floor and the heat shield...

So no more cel but car running lousy?

Re: CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

i thought the same because when i got under the car the connector was almost near the exhaust pipe. CEL went but the car still runs bad.

Re: CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

Check your spark plugs for possible fouling from all that extra fuel that your ecu was telling the induction system to send while your sensor was malfunctioning. Go ahead and check your cap and rotor just to be certain they are ok too.

Re: CEL 41 Primary Oxygen Sensor Heater

An update. New situation here! replaces spark plugs, car runs better like 70%. I am getting code 1 now after driving for few minutes. If i shut off the car it wont start, i have to wait like 10 minutes then it starts normal and code 1 disappears.
