ECU Compatibility

Hello Forum,

Is there any compatibility chart or list out there that lists which ECUs are cross compatible with different Hondas (various years and models)? I wanted to acquire another ECU because I have reason to believe mine is faulty and wanted to swap it out with another. There's a junkyard near where I live but there aren't many preludes there.

In short:
What are all possible options of ECUs can I put into my 1993 Honda Prelude SI 2.3L (manual transmission)?

Re: ECU Compatibility

Go to honda parts now .com and type in your car. Then find the ecu that your car has now. Then type that part # in the search bar.
It'll tell you which cars had that ecu, so you'll know you have the correct one.
Probably a bunch of accords had it and there should be several to pick from at the junkyard you spoke of.

Hope this helps.

Re: ECU Compatibility

Exactly what I did but it only gives me the two options:

1992 Prelude Si 2.3L KL
1993 Prelude Si 2.3L KL

Only two cars total, both preludes and both KL emission code. They have separate ECU models for KL and KA, but does this really matter?

Re: ECU Compatibility

I suppose that matters.

The KL is for california emissions.
You can thank a tree hugger for making it difficult to fix your car.

Will the KA work? Got me bro.
