Wistleing sort of sound from cooling system?

I installed a new IACV tonight hoping to get rid of my idle surging issue for good after doing everyting else i saw in the idle problem thread went driving for a bit and it was still there so I parked, I went down about an hour later and i heard this sort of whistleing or chirpping sounding noise, I squeezed the upper radiator hose and it would stop the sound for a second or make it sound a little diffrent. While searching for the cause of the sound I found this hole that looks like a screw goes in it and it appears to have coolant deep down it it. Not even sure what that hole is on but it made a rattle noise when i squeezed the hose. This all leads me to belive the surging is definitly from the cooling system somewhere but I have no clue were to start, if anyone knows what that part is I could research it more. Thanks for any help.

Looks to me like a hole for the bleed bolt in the top of the thermostat housing. When you do a coolant bleed you are meant to loosen this bolt, connect a small hose to the top, and run the motor until a constant coolant stream comes out (i.e. no more bubbles). If this plug is gone then your cooling system will not pressurise, better yet coolant would be pouring out of the hole as the engine warms up. Are you losing a lot of coolant?

not a lot but i did top it off just a few days ago it does seem to have gone down a little bit. There is a bolt under the hose just above that hole you, you cant see it but that is the one my brother always opened to bleed my system. Thats what confused me about this being there.

Re: Wistleing sort of sound from cooling system?

Can you post a pic of the second bleed bolt? I double checked mine just to be sure and I only have the one which is located where you have the hole. AFAIK the F22A1 thermostat housing is very much the same as the H23 and H22 ones so I'm not really sure how this second bolt comes into it, unless someone decided to tap another one in at some point. The service manual seems to support this.

In any case, plug that damn hole. Whether it be with a bleed bolt or a regular one, your cooling system won't work without being able to pressurise.

Partywiththelude , I also have the same sound from my CAI. I'm not sure Why but imagine its just the sound of it sucking in air.

Yes my brother removed it to look around the other day. I was looking at that hole from the picture in the day light yesterday and it looks like the thermostat housing is leaking around the edges, going to take it off and change the gasket hopefully this will take care of it.

You might have an air leak then, if you didn't put the clamps on EXACTLY how they were then that rubber sleeve could leak air. So happy someone else has noticed that happening to their car also.
