drivers axle repeatedly breaking..... help please..

hey guys i have a 94 prelude s 5 speed . all stock. not lowered.

my issue is i keep breaking my drivers cv axle at the inner joint.
ive gone thru 4 different axles, replaced rear motor mount, replaced intermediate/half shaft.

it is only my drivers axle that is doing this and for the life of me i can not figure it out.. it seems to break when i do a sharp left turn like doing a u turn.
i dont think it matters much but i do need to replace sway bar end links.

the picture is the last axle that broke. its always in the same spot of it, it seemed fixed after installing my new half shaft and new axle. drove around for 2-3 hours just babying it. then i made a u turn going left and snap... same damn thing. help please..

Re: drivers axle repeatedly breaking..... help please..

Inner knuckle, driver side only. Fascinating.

Did you replace one because it broke or did you start breaking them after replacing it for say, a torn boot?
You mentioned replacing a half shaft and rear motor mount. What condition are the ball joints in? Driver side motor mount,
Do you hear any funky sounds when turning a sharp left?
What kind of axle are you using? Store bought? I doubt you've gotten 3 bad ones in a row.
Are you certain you're inserting the axle in correct and not 'pinching' the inner knuckle when you drive it home into the half shaft?

Can you put the car on jack stands, turn on your engine, and turn your wheels like you say breaks the axle and see what is going on? Look for binding. Also in gear doing same.
If that don't show anything (due to no weight on the wheels) you may have to innovate a way to view under the car while turning the wheels...
My son and I used to park his lowered car one side up on the yard, other side on road using the curb to give more space between the car and the ground to change the oil.

Spend some money on legit axles nothing from a auto parts store and you should be good

Re: drivers axle repeatedly breaking..... help please..

I originally replaced the axle because again I turned a sharp left into a parking lot and snap. At about 10-15 mph.. Axles have all been brand new from oriellys. Import direct.
I'm almost 100% positive I'm installing it right. To me. When I take a left it's like it pulls my axle from that inner joint that connects to the half shaft. My ball joint seems fine. Also my wheel looks to be pushed back a smudge in the wheel well.

Re: drivers axle repeatedly breaking..... help please..

Pulls the inner joint out?
Aha, there is something going on beyond the axle then...perhaps a control arm issue or that sorta thing. Something is moving leftwards (is that a word?), thereby pulling the axle from it's knuckle is what it sounds like...how's your front end aligment? Caster? Camber? Toe in and all that?

If you'd have stated your replacement was the first to do this I'd be thinking wrong part (as in too short) or like Fla said, junky parts.

Just so we understand, when you say that your wheels looks a little "Pushed Back" do you mean into the wheel well in towards the motor, or back towards the firewall/cabin?

I agree with BykFixer... Something isn't lined up and it sounds like your axle is being put into a bind. Or the axle is too short and being pulled out of the spline of the tranny and again, being put into a bind and getting snapped. I sure hope that OReilly honored the warranty and didn't make you buy another one! (Or two in your case)

"Inwards, Outwards, Upwards, Downwards, Leftwards, Rightwards" Yep, sounds legit to me! Just wonder if it is in the Scrabble Dictionary! That is the ULTIMATE test!

Re: drivers axle repeatedly breaking..... help please..

Two random questions:

Are you getting the correct axles for your year/make/model/motor?

Are your tie rods installed properly or do you have two lefts or two rights?

I agree, something is without a doubt damaged if your wheel is not sitting properly to begin with.
