H23 non vtec needs more hp!!!!!

I've got intake, headers, and full exhaust. I'm looking for cams but can't find much. Does anyone know of some cams for the h23 or any other relatively cheap ways to squeeze a little more power out. Please add any links if you have them. I know I should just save up for an h22 vtec but I don't have that kind of money currently and I'm having fun playing with what I've got. Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated.

Re: H23 non vtec needs more hp!!!!!

From what I understand cam choices with the H23 non-vtec are very limited, but the popular choice seems to be Crower. Crower state that their stage 1 cams are good to use on the stock springs but stage 2 or 3 and you'll definitely need to work the head. You might see in the order of 10-15hp gains with stage 1. At over $400 for the cams alone you're starting to push the boundaries of "cheap" mods though, the Crower springs and retainers add nearly another $400.

What kind of intake/header/exhaust did you end up with if you don't mind me asking?

By this time you should really be considering a decent ECU to start making good use of the mods you have too.

I guess you've got to ask yourself how much money do you want to spend on a H23 since a lot of the parts you'd be buying for the H23 can't be transferred on to a H22 if you do eventually go down that path.

Yeah I know I should just save for an h22 with the h22 trans too cause it's closer ratio trans. Either that or turbo the h23 and go h22 trans but not to many bolt on kits for that either that I know of. Mostly ebay stuff I've been told to stay away from.

Re: H23 non vtec needs more hp!!!!!

before you decide anything make sure you do a lot of research first to make sure you are doing the right thing. Planning for boost is not cheap and not on a h23a1. Prepare to spend ALOT and have setbacks if thats what you really want.

:::HpreludeH::: PUFFS 4TH GEN PRELUDE REFURBISH

The car was designed and built for road course type use. There's some low to mid torque for pulling out of corners already built in.
If you end up going with a tranny built for acceleration, those virtues will be magnified. But you'll be shifting gears a lot more often or killing that engine by over taxing it.
Maybe you can consider just using this car for a daily and buy another car already set up.
Many a prelude gets all hopped up and sold for various reasons for a whole lot less than it will cost for you to properly hop up yours.

Re: H23 non vtec needs more hp!!!!!

Good advice bykfixer. She is a fun little daily driver in great condition. I may just keep playing with some more bolt ons and cams and ecu for what I have. I have a 240sx sitting in the garage with an sr20 I need to get back into and that could be my stupid fast car and the prelude could be my fun daily car.
