car idles right above 0 rpm

not sure what to look up next.. this morning it idle'd perfectly then when I would come to a stop from 20+mph it turns off on me when I take it out of gear.. once the rpm's drop, it drops completely to 0...
i've replaced plugs/wires/dizzy rotor and cap and it still does this..
now when i turn on the car it idles at about 200.. right above the 0 line
out of ideas..

Re: car idles right above 0 rpm

Have you tried tightening the throttle cable?
Mine kept doing that at one point. I took some slack out of the cable and the throttle return could not twist far enough to idle too low.

Didn't fix my issue, but stopped the car from die-ing until I solve the issue.

Re: car idles right above 0 rpm

How's the coolant level? I've found that if my coolant pressure drops, an early sign that the motor is getting hot is the idle drops very low, even if the temperature gauge reads normal. Not sure why, but it's repeatable.

the guy who worked on the engine actually did this today, he up'd the idle so it turns off less lol

Coolant has a very small (hose maybe) leak but still up to level
I did however forget to mention a constant hard misfire

The coolant leak may still have something to do with it -- if the system pressure is low, the engine will run hot.

You talked about that before a while ago.
Got me looking for leaks around the filler neck back then.

Re: car idles right above 0 rpm

There is an idle air adjustment screw on the side of the throttle body.

Re: car idles right above 0 rpm

update: the hose connecting to the map sensor was loose, tightened it up and the check engine light/idle issues went away.

however, when i'm doing around 20+MPH and take it out of gear to come to a stop, as soon as I step on the brake and clutch the car turns off and I have to quickly turn it back on to be able to stop completely, my car turned off about 5 times coming home from work today..I live 10 min away

Re: car idles right above 0 rpm

Even with the cable adjusted to raise the lowest idle speed above the norm?

I'm intrigued by your situation Ownski, because I chased a similar issue all summer w/o success. I had a host of other issues as well. So I started swapping out all the sensors and external junk because my engine was rigged by somebody before me. I got tired of discovering more rotten easter eggs. Soon I'll be ready to give her a go and the professor chimes in about the cooling system thing... Sheesh! That mighta been the cause of my idle/runs hot issue...then the idle thing popped up.

I'm rootin' for ya to solve it soon brutha

up'd the idle a bit yesterday so that it wouldn't turn off as much then found the loose hose
I did some research and it seems like this guy has almost the exact same problem, this is from a mitsubishi forum but nobody has answered it

"It doesnt happen all the time... When im coming to a stop and i press my clutch in so i can brake without gearing down the rpms drop (naturally to 1k ofcoarse with clutch engaged) but then they go really low (2-300rpm) and the car shuts off... The higher the rpm when i engage the clutch the more likely it will happen... If i downshift while coming to a stop, im ok... if i give a lil gas before rpm goes below 1k, im ok... press clutch w/no gas, not ok...

Has this ever happened to anyone before...?
What do u guys think the problem is...?"

also does it if i'm idling and rev higher than 2-3 rpm, when it drops back down it idles low for a bit and comes up or just turns off
