Engine problems

So about a week ago I pulled up to a stop light and popped into neutral (its an automatic btw) and when the light turned green I revved up let off threw it to 3rd floored it let off and popped into 4th the floored it again (got an amazing take off from it) the next day I go to leave work and notice a MAJOR loss in power and a very airy kinda sound almost like air rushing towards me at 60mph even though i was doing 20. I noticed a decent amount of white smoke and thought nothing of since im in northern ohio but even after it warmed up if I gave it a decent amount of exceleration it still smoked. Thought it was blown head gasket but did every test imaginable including coolant HC test and leakdown test. There is nothing left to do short of ripping motor apart to check for bad head gasket so ive pretty much ruled it out. The car has a rough idle and a pretty rough almost knocking noise. We changed plugs the other day since they were due for change and that eliminated a decent amount of smoke but again with hard acceleration it blows smoke. It also has a light clicking sound which Im sure is from a loose valve that needs tightened down. I cant for the life of me figure out what it could be. Im beginning to think clogged cat since Ive got loss in power, and its running/idling rough. Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated.

Re: Engine problems

I read somewhere that 4th gens are supposed to have 155 across the board so its a little low but would it be causing such a major loss in power and if so what can cause compression loss like that? Crack in the head or block?

Re: Engine problems

H23 with about 212k. Dont have 3 grand to drop on a now motor or I would gladly put one in with forged pistons and everything so it could be turbo'd. I also read that each tester reads different but consistency is all youre really looking for.

Re: Engine problems

Update. I took off the converter and its cleaner than most new ones. Still emptied it out for a deeper growl but still no idea where my power loss is coming from. Ideas anyone?

Re: Engine problems

Your motor has 212,000 miles and you are abusing it. Of course there's gonna be some negative consequences. Sheesh.

You mighta broke it.

Re: Engine problems

What I do with my car is my business. I asked for advice on whats wrong with it which I actually have fixed it. All it was is the valves needed tightened down. The cars back to normal and working better than ever.
