el gauge swap difference in auto manual harness

Ok guys so heres the long story in a short version I have a 96 si auto with el gauges in it and working but I can buy a el dash from a 96 manual so not to have to worry bout gear indicator I am building a 94 s manual

So will the auto harness and dimmer work ok for the swap I have done tons or research and feel pretty confident it will but was looking for a answer from someone who has already done it

Re: el gauge swap difference in auto manual harness

My son did an el swap into a 93. No fog wires and turn signals don't work correct.
When you push down the signal lever to turn left, both right n left dash lamps flash. Same for right turns. Out side the car all is normal.

Other than that it worked fine.

Did he use a auto harness on a manual car and I wonder if the signal issue is the black wire I hear needs that needs to b grounded on the passengers side

Re: el gauge swap difference in auto manual harness

I put a manual el in my 95 si auto, that had auto el in it stock.

The blinker lights and high beam indicators don't light up at all, which I really don't care about personally.... But my speedometer doesn't read right at all... Which I'm hoping that it's because of the fact it's getting signal from an auto vss, but not sure yet. I'm finishing my 5spd swap this weekend. I'm doing a writeup on it btw in the DIY Section sub topic engine. You should check it out. I've done the cluster swap and the pedals so far

Yeah it's a ground thing.

Manual cluster in a manual car

Go to hondapartsnow and look up the vss part # for auto then manual.
They differ on the 3g engine.

Re: el gauge swap difference in auto manual harness

Part numbers match but the descriptions say 4 speed auto, and 5spd manual.....

So they are different......

Re: el gauge swap difference in auto manual harness

You'd be better off doing an led bulbs upgrade on a S cluster. They have the t10 twisties for order, you can choose color and the smd patterns are better now. Best part is harnes to harness match.

Why go F22 when you already have the H23?

the reason for that is on the passager side there is 1pin plug need to be grounded, are both flash on the gauge half the brightness?

Re: el gauge swap difference in auto manual harness

Yeah the info I have found with all the research says that manual and standard harness are pretty much the same that there would b 1-3 left over plugs that were not needed another guy mentioned that even the extra plugs would plug into things that just had dead boards inside idk so has no one here used a auto harness in their manual car for this el swap if not I will just give it a shot in a week or so and do a write up

Re: el gauge swap difference in auto manual harness

I put a 5spd cluster into my auto car, soon to be 5spd.... Using the auto harnesses, like I posted above...... Everything works except what I mentioned above also.....

Re: el gauge swap difference in auto manual harness

Alright guys I don't mean to keep resurrecting all these old threads but I have been so busy lately that I have not been on anyways

I ended up getting a complete harness and cluster from a si vtec and still have a couple problems

I have no turn indicators or high beam indicator and my rpm gauge is not working I have a feeling someone has taking the cluster apart previously but I am not positive does anyone know of a fix for these issues or a good place to send the cluster to for a rebuild
