hyperventilating..?

hmm,, well long story short..when I run my AC my 96 tends to just rev up by itself..breathing hard.. I tried to search a bit but I came up a bit short. Anybody run into this before? Thanks PZ!

If "rev up by itself" you mean a raise of 200rpm that is more then normal.

If it revs up by more then 500 I would get it looked into. It means the AC system us putting quite a strain on your motors power.

Yea, same with power steering. Ever notice the idle change when you turn the wheel while parked? It's because they are belt ddriven off the engine

Well its normally when i am at an idle, such as a red light or something like that. And yes it will just raise in rpm's. It is quite annoying and when I'm at a stop light next to someone, 80% of the time I have to tell them I'm not trying to race .. blah.
