Re: car accelerates and decelerates while driving.

Sounds like it might be doing the same thing mine is. Is it only when you have your foot lightly on the gas cruising?? That's what mine does. Under medium-hard acceleration it's fine, but cruising it lurches and stutters.

Would be interested if anyone knows what would cause this.

Re: car accelerates and decelerates while driving.

Tune up... After replacing general maintenance parts you'll feel a difference.

Spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter, air filter, etc. check the service manual fuel supply system for info on bogging and performance loss

Re: car accelerates and decelerates while driving.

My car has 218k on it. I'm fairly certain it's the trans going out, but I have no clue. It has newer plugs, wires, cap/rotor, air filter, and a brand new fuel filter I just installed last week. I was having idle issues as well, so I cleaned out my IACV for good measure. The IACV fixed the idle problem, but this lurching is still completely irritating. It seems to happen more before my CEL goes on, and it's better afterword. Tonight it was doing it the whole time I drove though. When it decelerates/lurches it feels like you just downshifted, but it's only for 1 second, and it does it repeatedly.

I've got a knock sensor code (JDM F22B), TPS, and Fuel system. I replaced the fuel filter, gonna try some injector cleaner, and Seafoam it once it's maintenance time. I was getting really frustrated with how frequently it was jerking, so I loosened up my TPS and moved it some and tightened it back down. Since I did that it appears to be 100% better. I need to use my multimeter and actually test to see if it's spot on, I might do that tomorrow. I've still got this pesky occasional low idle (~500 RPM) which sometimes causes the car to die, but that's an entirely different problem.

Long story short, OP and anyone else with this problem, I would recommend calibrating your TPS and see if that does the trick.
