Alternator problem on BA8. Need help.

Hey guys, sorry for a nubish question, I got a problem with a 92ī F22A... ((

yesterday I raced a bit and so I revd a bit my motor, did two drag passes, it went good, w/o any overheating, etc

then when I was driving home, I saw my headlights dimming down, then all gauges went off (including my extra temp and press gauges). Then the motor stalled, so my baterry died and I was forced to push my car the rest of the way

today in the morning I checked all the cables, and they are fine, then I checked my battery (itīs not in a good shape definetely īcause itīs too old) and itīs voltage is 8.12 when ignition switch closed, 10.48 when is completely disconected

and when I put the key in contact position the voltage goes down to 3.5 volts

what it can frkn mean? please help guys

You broke the alternator belt when you revved the motor. Either that or your alternator is dead.

^^ yep. not a hard fix at all. especially if you want to start racing it then you better learn how to swap out some parts here and there.

Re: Alternator problem on BA8. Need help.

thanks! itīs not uncommon,I saw the broken belt problem on one vtec drag lude... but my alt belt is ok. I checked batt voltage today after charging it firstly and it was good, then I started the engine and measured voltage between + and - terminals, it was >14 so looks like my alt is ok...

batt red light on the dash is off also

tomorrow Iīll check fuses and wiring

still donīt know what could it be

Well your battery was definitely drained before, sounds to me like your alternator is intermittently going out. Take it to an auto parts store and they usually have a machine to hook up and test it still in the car.

Re: Alternator problem on BA8. Need help.

Today I tested it at different engine revs, also with all electrical load online, and its 13.90 minimal, so itīs fine...
then I checked all the fuses, and all the adjustable connections

letīs see how itīll go now...
if the issue repeating, Iīll do some test in the machine shop
Iīm planning to change BIG 3 cables and possibly rewire entire electrical system (itīs time to do it I guess)
