h23a1. non vtec, DOHC, comes stock in the 92-96 Si Preludes, BB2

now, as far as telling if its truly swapped engines, thats a tough one. ask for paperwork, see how it drives, sounds, feels, etc.

anyone can detail the engine bay, write some white writing on the engine, and say recently swapped..... makes the car more valuable, so if the guy seems shady, be careful with how much money you throw out there... because remember, this 92, im guessing Si, came with an h23a1, or 3, etc... so do your research on the car itself before giving any money up.

Edit:
also make sure to check for leaks after driving, and before under where it was parked. this person might of swapped engines without replacing seals, and have major leaks that could make him immediately put it up for sale to save time, money, and headache...

happens all the time, and is a common thing for someone to do with freshly swapped engines.... things go wrong, they cash out and let someone else get hit with the problems.

The si motor is the h23a1... Just in case you were thinking it was different...

The h22 came in the si vtec

Get the vin number and find out which motor originally came in the car by dechipering it. There's a thread around somewhere on here that shows how to do that

yea check to see the VINs match. thats the engine that comes stock in our cars, but it could be another h23 from another prelude swapped in as an OEM replacement
