Prelude wont turn over...

Hi everybody, just joined this community :D
... well i kinda need your help, i recently purchased a honda prelude 93, everything seemed fine when i test drove it, however a couple of week a ago, the weather was extremely hot and the car overheated while driving, so i parked for a while, 20 mins later, the car did start up, and i drove it back home, when i was there i noticed the radiator cap had come off, and some antifreeze loss, i put some anifreeze back, however a couple days after, the car leaked a lot of antifreeze and when i tried to turn the car on, it tried to turn over once, and the interior lights whent out, and it did nothing, since then,i put the key in, and the electronics come up, but when i turn the key, everything shuts off, no crank, one small but important detail, before this incident happened, if i wanted to drive my car it had to be early in the morning or late in the afternoon, because for some strange reason, when the car was sitting under the sun, it just wouldn't turn on, it would turn over but not start unless the sun wasnt that hot. sorry for the txt of wall i just wanted to give you ever detail. hopefully someone can help me.. ty

Re: Prelude wont turn over...

the issue with the not starting in the heat is most likely the main relay

Re: Prelude wont turn over...

First off check your battery, and if it comes back fine, then check your starter.

Re: Prelude wont turn over...

well i checked the battery, and the voltage seemed fine, but i researched for a while, and by research i mean google, and i found out that hondas have a faulty relay, witch is the main relay, thats why it doesnt start when hot, but when i had that problem before it heated, it used to crank, but now it wont, i think it might either be the starter, or a short on the ignition key since the electronics turn off whenever i try to turn the car on.. any ideas what could be?

Re: Prelude wont turn over...

run a wire from the positive post and touch it to the small terminal on the starter itself. make sure its in park or neutral, if it spins over, its not the starter. if I doesn't spin over, buy a $2 test light from an auto parts store and touch it to the small wire going to the starter while someone else tries to crank it. if it lights up, but doesn't spin over, u have a starter issue...or a locked up motor. either way.. there ya go. try to spin it over by hand before u throw a starter on it just to verify its not locked up.

Re: Prelude wont turn over...

welp, i tried the cable thing, however nothing happened, but it seem as if there already is a cable running to the small terminal, as if its normal, however i cant even crack, when i try to, i hear this click, under the hood and the electronics go off and nothing happens, i think i have an electric issue here. not sure yet.

Re: Prelude wont turn over...

i havnet no, but i dont think its the battery since i tested the battery itself and seems fine, the problem is that i cant get it to crank, and its kinda weird, because it wont even try, i will will just shut everything up the interior lights the gauge lights, and it wont let me try again unless i wait quite some time..

Re: Prelude wont turn over...

Sometimes batteries will test normal even if there is a bad cell. I seriously think you're just having battery issues.

Re: Prelude wont turn over...

I had a bad cell and the battery tested fine in the car with a $59 tester.
When tested on an $800 machine that's powered by said battery, the machine had to be plugged into the wall. The readout indicated dead cell.

Point here; what have you used to test it?
