H22 build, I hope.

Im going to build an h22a1. Im am going to list my plans and see what people think. I have adone a bit of research, have enough know how to have this work, so please understand i am not a random prelude owner that wants stuff done with no idea whats going on, though. Will have questions here and there.

****Important to know****
-I do not have a hp goal
-I am not trying to go all out just have fun
-Im doing what i consider a "low budget" build, but the right way.
*Buy low budget i mean that im using resorces such as craigslist, ebay, forums and facebook for deals on new or slightly used parts when possible.

Already have:
-H22a1 block/head (i plan to hone/bore .25 over)
-new H22a1 crank
-Slighty used but almost perfect Eagle H-beam rods
-stock p13 ecu

Plan to get:
-type s pistons .25 over
-type s cams
-aem v2 intake
-Decent header and exhaust system

Other things to be done:
-P&p head, intake mani, tb
-Tune ecu
-Lsd trans

I have done the research and will NOT sleeve my block, please do not mention it. And yes i have already gone through the hassle of finding a shop to do it when im ready.

Let me know what you all think of my plans, and any sugesstions. The idea is to have slightly higher compression for a little more get up and go with out going all out. I may upgrade the valve train also but its not needed with the cams. The aprx comression ration wgen done will be 12.5:1. :)

Re: H22 build, I hope.

Cool and the gang.
Definitely consider the valve train thing and be sure to use a good washable air filter like a k&n.

One more thing... please stop killing crx's.

Re: H22 build, I hope.

Def will use k&n and the second crx wasnt my fault, i was hit bya cop who ran a red light. Trust me i love crxs. Butttt if not for that i wouldnt have my prelude. And im thinking if the h22 build goes well ill boost my h23 and put t in a rex.

if you go H22 you have to change your user name, or be subject to ridicule.

Re: H22 build, I hope.

Can I ask how you plan to achieve 12:5 compression with 11:1 pistons?

Re: H22 build, I hope.

If u want a bit higher compression go with the Mahle Gold series pistons, u can run them on stock frm sleeves and their compression is like .5 higher if memory serves right

Re: H22 build, I hope.

When building mine, I wanted to do it without sleeving it also. More for curiosity to see how long it works than rebellion or money, but still, it get ya.

And Project_Lude^^^ is right, the mahle golds are 11.5:1. I have them in mine right now. You'd probably wanna avoid shaving your head to get higher compression, and for sure consider a new valvetrain- compared to most of your other parts, you can get new valves, guides, and seals pretty cheap. Springs and retainers are also recommended new since you're taking the time to do this.

A) You will end up a little less than 11:1 because.....
B) Boring creates more volume which decreases compression
C) Do more research before you jump into this
D) Might also want to consider attempting to find a machine shop competent with FRM cylinder walls if you plan on running the oversized pistons.

Re: H22 build, I hope.

Blake,
Should he start with a speed shop in general or say... a Porsche shop? Warping perhaps?

Does shaving the head lead to potential overheating with these engines?
Some say shaving ok, other say don't do it.
