what is this?

what is that funnel looking snout on top of the transmission on the passenger side? its sticking straight up. i was looking at my car ad saw this, it didnt have a plug or anything on it

Ah completely different than my american car lol, my old civic had two plugs, one to drail, one to fill. My dumbass was sitting there staring at it like" ummmm why doesnt this tube have a plug on it. Who the f did this swap" lol, lack of sleep getting to me

There are also the drain and fill bolts on the pass side of the tranny. That tube is simply a vent tube, but it can also double as the easiest method ever to fill tranny fluid. (still gotta drain it via the bolt, tho)

If you use the breather pipe to fill up the transmission with fluid how do you know when it has the correct amount of fluid in there?

The only way transmission fluid should be put into the gearbox is with a pipe to the proper filling hole. When the fluid starts to come out of the hole you know there is exactly the correct amount of fluid in there.

Cuz the tranny only takes 2qt's (I believe)

Touché, yeah it is two quarts for a fluid change (2.2 quarts from empty). Handy when you buy the likes of Amsoil, not so handy for anything else that is in litres (Torco etc...).
