Icon6 How Do you TEST A knock SENSOR?

How do you troubleshoot a knock sensor?

To see if it's good or bad?

Voltage reading?

Also how many volts should I be getting from the ECU?

Hopefully you guys can help me resolve my Code 23.

Thanks From, HondaNoob.

Foreal though.

I have the repair manual.

It's just that it doesn't give me raw numbers like how I'm asking for.

Re: How Do you TEST A knock SENSOR?

Test to see if you have a circuit like a fuse.

It'a a microphone that when it hears knocking closes the circuit thereby throwing the code.
You can do a 'fool it' circuit type jumper to rid the code.
A word of caution, the knock sensor is one of those items that keeps your motor safe from harm so it's best to have one that works.

I've read here that other manufacturers sensors like chevy fits the H22. Check it out.

Re: How Do you TEST A knock SENSOR?

Borrow one or parts yard. If it still throws a code, check the connectors.

What's your engine? F22 run on regular, H23/H22 run on premium

H23a1 and I just got a new sensor
too
I just popped it in a couple days ago and just yesterday the CEL came back.

I reset the code. then held the car at 3,000 rpm then bam! CEL.

Re: How Do you TEST A knock SENSOR?

How often do knock sensors go bad?

Posts 13,14&15 explains.
Digital multi meter set on ac, ho lead t tothd ks and ground to ground point. Tap the throttle body.
Voltage should change some if the sensor is good.

Edit: Don't know about the 4th, but the 5th is hard to reach from the top. If the atts is attached it's difficult from the bottom as well.
