Icon10 Need some advice on custom stereo

I'm working on a sound system for my '95 SE and I kinda screwed up...lol...I meant to order a pair of Orion 1.8" tweeters for the dash, but what I ended up with is one 5" CTW600 (400W max/100W RMS at 4 ohms) Super Bullet tweeter. Now my problem is should I wait the 3-4 weeks to return and reorder the right pair and swap out the old ones (less "work") or do I accept my mistake and try to use it? My system currently has a JVC deck (4 x 50W) , four 6.5" Kenwood KFC-1656s (160W max./ 35W RMS no amp to the 6.5"s) 2 in the back and 2 in the doors and a dual 12" Kicker Comp box squeezed in the trunk w/ a Kenwood eXcelon x500-1 class D mono amp (500w x1 at 2 ohms on a toggle switch). I was considering mounting the Orion CTW600 w/ no amp (for now...) where the "7th" speaker (the factory sub) mounts between the back seats in the trunk....My question comes can I run the 2 sets of factory wires together from the dash to the back and use them together to run that one Orion? The Orion CTW 600 Technical Details

Brand Name: Orion
Model: CTW600

Product Description
Power Handling: 100W RMS 400W MAX Power General Features: Impedance 4 Ohm Voice Coil Size 1.82" Voice Coil Type SV Efficiency 104dB

any help or ideas would be much appreciated....I'm just not sure about Impedence levels and such....don't wanna blow it....

Alright ....I made some calls and basically couldn't wait any longer so I tested it out. The Orion CTW600 tweeter works like a charm...more than I need but eeeh...so now I gotta clean up the install, run it to the back and mount it. Gonna throw up a few pics with more detail for the heck of it.

OK...This is my 1st try at this so here we go.....

http://www.preludezone.com/members/3...lbums1849.html

I basically fished the factory tweeter wire on the passenger side down and ran a line from there to the center console. Then I ran 16 gauge wire from the tweeter compartment on the driver's side back down behind the dash using a stretched out clothes hanger to fish it through. I zip tied it under the dash to my RCA Sub wires to the passenger side. I used some left over terminals and a capacitor that came with the Orion Tweeter to connect both front L/R tweeter lines together through the capacitor into one 16 gauge line to the back. I ran the tweeter line under the center console, under the back carpet at the corner of the console. Then under the seats and into the trunk. Sounds pretty good even though it's kinda rigged...gotta save up some $$$$ for a crossover and an amp for the 5 - 6.5" Kenwoods and the Orion....subs have their own...

Estimated cost-

HU- JVC kd-s39j - $80 Walmart
SUBS- Dual 12" Kicker Comp box - $200 co-worker "never used"
Kenwood eXcelon x500-1 mono class D amp - $200 Freemans car stereo
MIDS-(4) Kenwood KFC-165s - $70 ($35 a pair) eBay 2 different sellers
TWEETER- Orion CTW600 Cobalt Super Bullet - $30 Onlinecarstereo.com
Wiring- $40 amp wiring kit (Freemans)
$10 16gauge roll of wire
$10 various other crap(i.e. connecters,screws,etc)
Grand Total $640...not too bad...

looks good, especially considered your impatience to test it lol. so are you gonna stick with it since its probably too late to return it? or are you still going to order the pair?

I think I'll keep it....more than I need ,but who's counting...My GF....lol.....She says this car has taken me back 20 yrs to being "a 16 yr old with his lil' BOOMIN' sports car".....The Orion sounds great. I'm getting the highs and lows from the back and the mids are in the cab.....blends beautifully....My main concern was if the 2 channels from the dash combined might throw some impedence that would blow it or the HU. (4ohm +4ohm=2ohm-?) So far so good ......not to bad for a Hillbilly......whoooo haaaa (Banjos playin' in the background). Thx epic luder .....given the money and materials ...and knowledge ...I'm happy....my neighbors are not....lol.....
