Tune up parts

I just purchased a 93 Prelude that has had a engine swap. It now has a JDM H22a. I'm wanting to do a full tune up. What parts should I replace, and what do I tell the parts guy for my application?

Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Tune up parts

you can tell the parts place you have a 93 or 94 2.2 vtec. replace distributor cap, ignition coil, spark plugs and wires. I would do an oil change also since you just got the car

Re: Tune up parts

I was also gunna do the fuel filter. Is OEM parts the best choice on all these parts, or are there better parts elsewhere?

Re: Tune up parts

Remember though, if the guy that did the swap used the JDM distributor then it is a internal coil distributor. The 93-94 distributor cap won't work, you would need to get like a 97 civic distributor cap, those have an internal coil like the jdm prelude.

A easy way you can tell is you will have 4 instead of 5 wires coming off of your distributor (spark plug wires).

Everything TypeT posted is great.

Re: Tune up parts

Good point Blamo.

Any idea how old the timing belt/ water pump are? If the answer is no, 5 years or 80k miles change them too.
I use high mileage conventional oil. Slows the leaks a little.

OEM parts are fine. Bosch or k&n oil filters are good too. Also k&n air filter will allow a smidgen more efficiency in the air induction system. Some say upwards of 7hp gain. I dunno about that, but it's washable.

Re: Tune up parts

It has a external coil and 5 wires off the distributor. I ordered the correct part!

The belts and water pump/ cooling system are next on the list.

bykfixer.... your quote in your sig made me smile! HA!

Re: Tune up parts

Parts showed up today.... wow that coil was expensive! Waiting for this heat to pass before any work gets done! For now, I have to research on how to change the fuel filter, adjust the valves, set timing, and clean sensors, and junk. Ordered four new tires as well.

Re: Tune up parts

Have you been to the diy section, all service manual thread and downloaded a 4th gen service manual?
It won't cover your swap 100% but will show you many of the items you need to know.
