First post, Need info. 95', just picked up an H22 OBD2

I'm New to the forums. I've recently repurchased my lude back from a friend after coming back from England. He has trashed it with no love. I've also found out that the change oil sticker is pretty much the same one from 5 years ago when I sold him the car. So about 30k miles with no oil change. It only has the crappy single overhead cam engine in it anyways and it was always in the works to be replaced. Now while at a local junk yard looking for bumper covers(because he has wrecked it) I ended up leaving with a complete assembly moonroof from a 5th gen which from what I've read should be no problem for the conversion.

My main concern is the H22 I also picked up. It's from a 98' lude which is OBD2 and I'm not sure what exactly I need to get it all going. It will be a project and I do have time. I've had to replace the brake booster and brake master cylinder. Not sure how he was driving it. The steering rack also had a blown out seal, so that is going to be replaced along with the burnt out steering pump.

Sorry for the long explaination, I just need help with the motor. Do I need a special harness? I understand I need a different ECU, or just mine reprogrammed(which I might avoid). Also do I need to drop everything to put it in or can I just swap the motors out? Also the H22 has only 44k on it and I paid $800, $100 for the Moonroof assembly. Good prices these days?

Welcome to the forums! Post up some pics so we can follow your progress!

Sounds like you got a good deal on some parts. I paid $130 for my 5g roof setup and was proud of it. Took some work to get it in and I still have an issue with a sagging headliner, but I think I'll just drill a couple holes into the sunroof bracket and pop a little plastic xmas tree into it. You'll figure it out, lemme know if I can help with that at all.

As for the OBDII to I conversion, I'm not familiar with what steps to take but I know there's a few on here that do, so we'll wait for them to chime it.

That's the only picture I have of the car right now. I'm currently living in an apartment complex. It's sitting at a friends place. I am trying to decide on whether to swap the whole assembly or just the glass. I would like to use the shade for it. Is there no other way to modify it to work without swapping the whole assembly? I've seen the write up on the swaps for both ways. I also understand that I need a 92, 93 headliner if I'm to swap the whole assembly to get it to fit properly. Does anyone happen to have an exact reason for this or a picture?

Your car looks pretty good despite it's recent history.

Like Lindso said, it'll take others to say what's needed to swap.
I think you can do an obd1 though.

The left quarter panel has damage and the right rear has some damage as well. I will try to get out there this week and take more pictures. Those two things need to be fixed so that I don't have rust damage.... well... more extensive rust damage. so far just surface rust. Bumber covers are toast, fenders are pushed in like someone was sitting on them over and over. The hood is also wrinkled. Clearly my baby needs some work. I pay attention to detail and I don't even want to drive it looking like that. Needs work, will be replacing the steering rack, hoses, and pump probably next week. BTW, main reason I bought her back is because my friend was trading it in and they were giving $500...... So I offered my friend $500 for the car.

$500, can't go wrong with that for a complete car, even if it's a little rough around the edges.

I still used my vinyl headliner from the 1995, it's the rear hard plastic headliner that you need from a 92-93 that has the cutout for the upper brake light. Except in the case, the 5g sunroof motor will go where that brake light would otherwise be.

Regarding the shade, it slides into the assembly, so unfortunately I do not see a way to use it without the entire 5g bracket.
