4th gen rear fog install not as easy as one would believe.

SO... I thought installing a rear fog light on a 4th gen BB1 would be easy...

As if cutting the hole in the nice oem clean bumper wasnt nerve racking enough, I ran into another snag...

I cut out the factory provided line inside the bumper so I know my positioning is correct. Has anyone else installed one on their 4th gen?

I havent seen any in person on a USDM 4th gen, or very many pics of NON jdm, edm ludes with them, maybe this is the reason why lol...

I have no choice but to cut out a notch to allow the light to sit in properly... Nothing too serious if you got the guts to cut into things.

If you want one be prepared to have to cut up your rear bumper support as well as your bumper.

Im in too deep to turn back now, just thought I would share.

On a good note, I also just installed my 96' Accord side skirts! looks good huh? :)

Re: 4th gen rear fog install not as easy as one would believe.

theirs a reason on the bracket that the fog light mounts to it has an "R" on it. Meaning right side.lol. If you mounted it on the right side I bet ya wouldn't have to hack up your support beam. And fyi, Their is a difference on the 4th, 5th gen prelude as well as integra and civic rear foglight. The difference is the depth of the actual foglight. I think in Europe they had the left rear foglight and in japan it was on the right side. That's why you sometimes see people having both rear foglights which is just retarded imo..lol

If memory serves me. My fog light is much slimmer than the images you have there. I will verify when i get home this evening.

Im sorry but your wrong on a few things here, not trying to be rude.

It doesnt matter whether you mount a rhd light on the left side, its the bracket you use or how its modified. It sits on my bumper just fine, and shines strait back/down as it should.

Second No it wont fit on the other side. Mounting it on the other side would make no difference. There is the same clearance between the bumper and the support. EDM/JDM ludes bumper supports had indents to accommodate them.

STANLEY used the same light bulb housing for every 92'-01' prelude edm or jdm. The only difference are the brackets themselves, they are made different to better fit each bumpers contours, and rhd/lhd.. You see my 5th gen light housing, and housing bucket in the video, but you dont see my mounting bracket.

Ive heard of several other 4th gen owners who had to notch their support since ive came across this. You can see clearly that the light housing itself doesnt go into the bumper far enough. So its not because of a error on my side..... I own the proper tools to do it cleanly, not much has to be removed anyhow.

Id like for you to show me a "slim" version for 4th/5th gen prelude if you would.

Re: 4th gen rear fog install not as easy as one would believe.

So I just though it would show some finished pics for others you come across this thread later on. I had a cutting wheel and cleanly notched out a small amount of metal to clear the light. Then i hit with a quick black rattle can to cover metal to prevent rust in the future. Maybe took 40 min taking my time. I had to put on and take off the whole bumper about 3 times to make fit perfect.

I did have a 5th gen rhd light, I seen people saying it wouldnt fit or work. The only difference are the brackets themselves. The STANLEY bulb housings are the same for 4th and 5th gens as long as most 90's honda's.

Heres my end results, I hope they speak for themselves.
