Re: Hm, occasional start up problem?

when this was happening to me it was the main relay, i pulled it out of its holder and if it wouldnt start id just slap it a couple times. i only did this until i got a new one.

You can tell if its that if the fuel pump doesnt turn on and you dont here a click, when you turn the key.

Mine won't start when the battery is dead or it's out of gas.

Re: Hm, occasional start up problem?

I'm going to assume you mean it cranks for an extended amount of time before it finally starts (a small videoclip will help us better). Look into the main relay, there's tons of info on symptoms of it going bad. Try searching google and the forums. Hope I was able to be of some help rather than posting useless info.

Re: Hm, occasional start up problem?

Hm, Ill look into the starter then, and the main relay... thanks guys.
Not sure if anyone else has accidentally tried to turn the engine on, while already running(dont judge me, i was tired!!), but the crank sound is identical...

A bad starter will make the same noise.

Re: Hm, occasional start up problem?

X2^^^ we used to say "the bendix is going" in the old days. Some would say there's a tooth missing on the flywheel. But rebuilding or replacing the starter should do the trick.
Your bendix is not always extending out all the way and grabbing the flywheel I believe. So it slips off the tooth.
We've all done the start it while running thing. That's what happens when your $h!t runs proper. You don't even know it's going.

Re: Hm, occasional start up problem?

I am looking into some starters online, can anyone give me a standard base price for a legit starter? Any sites that are recommended? I have searched a bit on the forum but no luck really :/ Thanks in advance.
