Bug guts etched my paint, help me out

Guys....it seems like bad after bad things keep happening to my car. All because of carelessness. So I hadn't washed my car in a while, & soon bugs hit all up on the front end & of course side view mirrors as well. So it's now summer & the temperature has gotten high enough here in NC to burn those bug guts right through my clear coat.

Now I'm stuck....it looks like its NO CURE to my paint as of now.

What do you guys think?

Re: Bug guts etched my paint, help me out

Dynamite if the bug n tar/wet sand don't work.

Maybe some heavy duty rubbing compound and be prepared to spend several hours grinding on the compound using a pad. When you think you've polished enough, you are just getting started good. If that don't work, a spray bottle with water and 2k sandpaper.

Or.....

Re: Bug guts etched my paint, help me out

I've just posted the pics of the damage guys. The only thing my fingernail would do is break off trying to get under this stuff. Its not coming off, this is under the clear coat. It was already compounded at a detail shop, but wet sanding and all that is nothing I have experience with. Looks like I'll have to pick out a body shop to visit

Re: Bug guts etched my paint, help me out

Bug off, let it sit for about 30 second, and a pressure washer. Worked for me

You may have to remove the clearcoat.

Did your paint end up looking like mine?
It's really looking like there aren't anymore guts on the hood. It looks like when I got it cleaned they cleaned that spot so hard that it took the paint off from where the guts were

Re: Bug guts etched my paint, help me out

I know this sounds stupid but It's worked quite well for me before. Use a penetrating lubricant like PB Blaster. Spray lots on and let it soak for a good 30mins and wash your car. This trick even works for just removing bugs, I do it all the time and you can literally just take a rag and wipe all the guts off. Good luck!

Make sure to test in a small area first... Better safe than sorry.

Re: Bug guts etched my paint, help me out

Sounds like its too late for that suggestion mate.

As this juncture 48VTEC, i would tell you to visit the nail polish isle in macy's or target or some major retailor, and match as close to possible, then reapply clear coat for a later paint job. Less headache and will seal up the potential rust spots.
