Icon5 PLEASE HELP!!! BAD VTEC PROBLEM!!!

PLEASE HELP
I have a 1992 Honda prelude, with a h22a JDM swap, 5 speed, p13 ecu. i wired my vtec up to a toggle switch and it worked great. I ran it like that for 2 weeks with no problems. I accidently left the Toggle on all night and cut it off the next morning. then all hell broke loose.
CAR RUNS LIKE **** with Vtec off, Im talkin idling weird/high, cold air intake is SUPER LOUD and has absoulutly no power, as to when i cut vtec on it runs perfect like it normally did with vtec on.
What the hell is going on?
Vtec pins? valves? what?

Before i hooked vtec up i never had any problems, now Idk what to do
HELP!!!!!!!!

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! BAD VTEC PROBLEM!!!

You left it on with the car off overnight? It sounds like it could have jumped timing or something even worse like bend valves. Check your oil level, check your spark plugs, wires, etc. I'd do a tuneup and remove the toggle switch. I can't think of a time I want VTEC when I'm not gunning it.

But i checked everything that i can think of. anything i should check while top end is apart? Please let me know asap

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! BAD VTEC PROBLEM!!!

Methinks opening your valve cover to survey the rape is in order. Hopefully you can save the head and pistons. Normal driving is not smoke at 2000 rpm. Remove the toggle and examine the system, you fried something.

Gotta ask: what possessed you to alter a perfectly working VTEC? No really. The engine is already tuned to the limit to remain streetable/reliable from Honda. Not good enough for you? Whether or not it's the bumper scrapping or some other distraction your setup was a ticking bomb, waiting to happen over some other junk.

I honestly hope you come out on top with zero damage, this lesson sobers.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! BAD VTEC PROBLEM!!!

I'm struggeling to leave this post as clean as possible, but I'm gonna go "light-weight" as Sideswipe did here and ask you nicely; Why the f*ck would you let VTEC stay on permanent? Or have a toggle for it? I've been driving my VTEC for a while now, and I seriously *love* the fact that it kicks in when it does. This means I can drive the car "normally" and kick the sh*t out of anyone who dare try to pass me by putting the petal to the metal (:

So yeah... Why? :x

And for the sake of the Prelude; Hope all goes well!

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! BAD VTEC PROBLEM!!!

the reason the vtec was on a toggle was to see if it worked. I never drove with it on unless i was hauling ass. I did not have the proper vtec wiring harness and did not want to waste the money if it wasnt working properly. I left it on because I was haulling ass home one night and i was pissed cause i broke my phone so i just cut the car off got out and went inside. I just really dont know what to do on this one.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! BAD VTEC PROBLEM!!!

I think you guys are misunderstanding. 92 prelude is a NON VTEC CAR, when this dumbass (previous owner) swapped to a vtec he never wired it up. Just plugged in the p13 (it is the correct computer) and went. like i said i just wanted to see if it worked before i bought the harness.
