Got a good offer today (:

So, this guy at "Club Honda Norway" put these parts for sale, and I told
him that I was interessted. He made me a good deal on all parts + shipping
wich I just couldn't refuse :b

What y'all think about these parts?

Brian Crower stage 2 N/A cams (used 15miles)
Supertech valve-springs and retainers (brand new)
Type S pistons and rings (brand new)
King crank and big end bearing (brand new)
Ostrich 2.0 and Hulog Extreme. (brand new)
p72 ECU ready for Ostrich.
H-profil rods (brand new, fits the Type S pistons)
SkunkWorks adjustable camgears (used)

The guy askes for 3.000 NOK wich is around $515 USD
I don't find that much at all, so I'm thinking about going
for it. But it's always nice to hear from someone more
experienced tuners like you guys, what you think? (:

Re: Got a good offer today (:

you dont need

Ostrich 2.0 and Hulog Extreme
H-profil rods

you can use type s pistons with stock rods ok and tune/dyno shop should have things already what they need to burn the chip for your ecu

but what YOU WILL NEED:
better injectors
good header
good exhaust

+ Id get better IM (or stock one ported). stock IM can create bottleneck there for you

hmm why someone is selling those so cheap, if theyre ok/new parts!? it doesnt make sense....

and remember if you start this build you need to get new timing belt-things, new clutch, all new seals/gaskets and so on... its not going to be cheap.
+ machine shop work (it would be good to get your head & block inspected)

(and let the machine shop check your block first before you buy any pistons!!)

Re: Got a good offer today (:

Wow....for that price I say get the stuff, use what you need and re-sell what you don't...

Here in Canada, a pair of Skunk2 cams are about $800, so if you can get all that for that price, I say do it!

Make sure to inspect it all....price is almost TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

Re: Got a good offer today (:

That's ridiculously cheap. If everything is straight, you made a really good find.

TypeT is right about the timing, seals, gaskets and whatnot. You wouldn't want to have something go bad right after putting all that work into it. Taking your block to a machine shop is never a bad idea either. And a good exhaust and intake and stuff would definitely help you get the most out of what you just bought. I think you should use the rods though, and if you have a tuner around that prefers ostrich, use it. You'll need a tune for sure.
Good luck! Post results ;]

Re: Got a good offer today (:

Yeah, I've set it as a "standard" (like everyone else with IQ greater than their shoe-size) to always change gaskets and stuff once the engine has been opened.

Timing belt too, and stuff like that (:

This guy is a highly trusted user of Club Honda Norway community. I've bought stuff
from him before, although it's a while ago now. So yeah, the deal is almost "too good
to be true" :b

Same goes over here. Skunk2 cams = eeeeexpencive as fuuuk!

Header/manifold is being ordered once I get my sallary (around 10th, a few days to go!)
and gaskets/timing belt will also be ordered then (:

TypeT - I really don't "care" if I need those parts or not.. :b
Like 4GenLudeLover said; I'll use the parts that I need and
then just re-sell the rest q:

Really looking forward to get these parts now. Finally, stuff is
happening to my lude aswell!! ^^,

Thanks for good replies from all of y'all! :)

Re: Got a good offer today (:

+ you have to get some manual tensioner there, the auto tensioner doesnt really work with aftermarket cams + valvetrain

which header you have thought to get?

Type S pistons FTW. Get a Skunk IM with 'em; heard good things about both.

Re: Got a good offer today (:

if your block is in bad shape and they have to hone it - STD size pistons might not fit then anymore there (like in my build).. so this in mind, it would be good to check it before you buy pistons there

remember that too big tb is overkill. Id get max 66mm one.

then you only need the header

+ make sure those bearings are for 50mm crank. newer h22s have 55mm one

Re: Got a good offer today (:

TypeT - Thanks for looking out for me, giving me good tips/stuff to check out etc.
I appriciate it! ;)

Yeah, I'll make sure of everything. I'm not an idiot, and this build will SURELY be done by
me and a few friends who (actually) know what they are doing ;p I'm not *that* into
engines yet, but I sure as hell am gonna follow my own build and try to learn as much
as possible. I'm known for asking alot of questions and Google alot, just to be sure.

There are plenty of opportunities in this world where there is room for f*ck ups.
- Building my H22 is clearly not one of those opportunities!

I see..
It's worth mentioning that I've done lots of DIY's where I've been extremely carefull, but still winding up with the object being more destroyed after I tamper with it, than it was in the first place.. ;p So ofcourse, if you know stuff to be EXTRA aware of, let me know! (:
