Have to say...I love my 4th gen.

I had a scare a couple days ago. I was driving and randomly I started hearing loud noises coming from underneath the car. It was embarassing how loud it was, sounded like everything was falling apart underneath. First thing that came to my mind was my newly installed exhaust had fallen off the hangars and was dragging/hitting heatshields and the like.

Managed to limp it home...but was so stressed out I threw it in the garage to be dealt with the next morning. Jacked it up and had a look underneath: axles good, exhaust intact. 3rd thing I checked were my brake rotors: all seemed good...14mm caliper bolts all good...but wait...looked closer, I was missing a 17mm bolt holding the caliper in place on the driver side which had been causing the loud racket. I had forgotten to recheck the tightness of all the bolts after changing my front brake pads/rotors back in January. Quick run to the junkyard, and after literally kicking a couple 17mm caliper bolts loose on a 94-97 Accord because I was so desperate, I found a 93 Si/SR with just ONE loose 17mm brake caliper bolt remaining after someone pillaged it for its brake components. Unreal, almost like the prelude gods were watching over me. I'm positive the accord ones would've worked as well, but nice to know it will for sure work.

Ahh...relief. Made sure everything was nice and tight and was on my way. Now I need to deal with another knocking noise coming from the undercarriage, exhaust is hitting a heatshield in the rear somewhere and it's bugging the hell out of me. It could also be my UCA bushings are shot. Really need to get my polyurethane UCA bushings in but need a torch.

Speaking of which, the exhaust I have right now sounds insane. Ebay SS header/downpipe, 2.5'' Megan 1ft test pipe that doubles as a resonator, 2.5'' piping, 24'' glasspack then out a 2.5'' apexi n1 muffler. Sounds unreal. Sounds like a G35 coupe stock exhaust almost, but then when vtec hits the honda within comes out and fires a barrage of additional noise, a bit of rasp albeit muffled, and of course a bit of blue smoke when vtec'ing it. Car pulls as good as a stock H22A1 with exhaust/intake will pull. Actually pretty quick, before I know it I'm above the speed limit and have to hit the brakes haha. Kind of bummed the exhaust shop threw on a glasspack. But they do specialize in muscle cars which seem to do well with glasspacks, but so far it's a perfect fit for the H22. Only thing is the internals of the glasspack will wear out eventually and it'll basically be a hollowed out piece of pipe ah well, I don't mind an exhaust that changes over time and sounds different month by month. lol

If you didn't read anything above >>> tl;dr: make sure you tighten your nuts, but not too hard, you might break them. Keep your stick on the ice.
