93 prelude wont turn over.

My 93 prelude wont turn over. i was driving to the mall and the power steering belt broke off i got to the mall and checked the alternator belt and it was fine. so drive home without the power steering and on the way ther the car dies. i pull into the medium and look and see the alternator belt broke also. so i replace the belts and the car wont turn over. i check the harmonic balancer(think thats what its called the pully were both belts attach) and it was worn out so i replace it. after i get everythign put back together and back to how it was the car still wont turn over. ive changed the distributor cap and spark plugs after this. i changed the starter about two weeks before. i have absoulutly no idea whats wrong and my mechanic hasnt taken the time to look at it. also i took the header off and the timing belt looked fine. any help would be much appreciated. sorry if its messy text i just really want my car back and running:)

Re: 93 prelude wont turn over.

Things i didnt check are fuse and alternator. i dont think the altenator has anything to do with it but i read somewhere that fuses being blown could make it not start. battery is brand new also. i replaced after this

I really dont know about what might be wrong, but You can get your alternator tested for free at most autoparts stores.

Re: 93 prelude wont turn over.

just my opinion, but 2 belts broke in im guessing 2 hours worth of time??

you shouldnt be worried about getting your car started yet....

you should replace the timing belt BEFORE this happens upon next start up. sounds like you have a lot of miles, with probably the original belts....

Dead battery?

Try jumping it with a known good car/batt?

Re: 93 prelude wont turn over.

Verify that your timing belt is intact and in reasonable shape. Sounds like it may be in the same shape as your other belts.

Re: 93 prelude wont turn over.

I'm not saying not to check the timing belt, but the same belt situation happened with me. My harmonic balancer went out and that broke my alternator and ps belts (only about 30k miles on them). My tbelt was fine since it was all caused by my balancer going out. Definitely check your timing belt though. I guess I didn't really help much, but I hope your tbelt is in good shape!
