Temp gauge pegged!!! please help

Herro to all, i am new to PZ but not new to cars in general. I have a 94 s model that the gauge pegs out but fans come on and iv driven 40 miles to and from work pegged. ONLY reason i did that is cause i have replaced the water pump, rad, rad cap, temp switch A, temp switch B, temp sensor, upper rad hose, AND rad fan control module. Ill turn off the car coasting up to red lights and when i turn key on 5 seconds later the gauge reads in the middle but pegs out again in 20 seconds again. basically the only thing not replaced is digital gauge and wiring harness. Any takers on this one??? dont know if this is common. thanks in advance everyone. BTW the motor is fine and runs like a watch so i know its not damaged.

Re: Temp gauge pegged!!! please help

Did you bleed the system after the fact? Did this start after you changed all of those parts?

Re: Temp gauge pegged!!! please help

Thank you for reminding me, yes, the gauge thing started after all the parts crap BUT not right away. I was driving the car around after the timing belt and didnt know the rad fan was wobbling around (i neglected to mention i replaced that too) i heard a crazy noise from under the hood (cause of the rad fan) and then looked at the coolant gauge, it was pegged. Pulled over to turn the car off and car wouldnt shut off! had to jump out and take pos terminal off batt. ever since then the gauge has gone haywire which is the reason i have changed all the cooling system parts. I have "ran-let cool" the system and cracked the bleeder with the rad cap off each time about a dozen times, their are no bubbles in the system.

Install an aftermarket water temp gauge to test?

Re: Temp gauge pegged!!! please help

I've gone through the same thing. I even replaced the gauge. I just ended up putting a secondary ECT gauge in with a needle I can watch move if the stock gauge starts reading hot.

You'll get an engine light and the motor will feel like limp mode if the coolant temp makes it to 220*, so if you haven't gotten anything like that, you can be fairly confident the car's lying to you.

Re: Temp gauge pegged!!! please help

In all my years of driving, there's one thing I've learned... never trust any factory gauge. Ever.
