Re: ordering parts online(not performance)

hondaautomotiveparts.com for OEM Honda parts.

Summit Racing or any other aftermarket supplier will be able to provide you with anything else.

If you're getting ready to do a timing belt job, don't forget to replace all the seals under there.

- cam seals
- front main seal (crankshaft seal)
- balance shaft seal & retainer
- if you haven't done so already, replace the auto-tensioner with an H23 manual tensioner or a Kaizenspeed manual tensioner. (there is a write-up for this conversion - Importrp has the whole conversion kit for cheaper than the dealership.)

Check out some of the write-ups on here and other forums.

Good luck!

Re: ordering parts online(not performance)

Well if i replace it with an aftermarket one from summit or napa, it will last just as long as the timing belt. or am I wrong.

If its a big deal and these are crap that honda put on these cars, why werent they recalled. So if i replace it with another OEM one, it will be fine.

NO it won't. I'm not going to waste time repeating myself. If you don't believe me, do some research.

H22 auto tensioner fail

h22 auto tensioner failure

There are countless threads on the subject. Even brand new OEM Honda ones have failed after a week.

The choice is yours, obviously.

But I'm tired of seeing threads about people asking advice, not taking said advice and then bitching about having to rebuild their head because the brand new auto tensioner has failed and bent valves in the process.

A $90 conversion kit vs rebuilding your head.

Up to you.

Majestic Honda for OEM Honda Parts. Don't use an auto tensioner, switch to a manual tensioner or the Kaizenspeed tensioner. Stop being an idiot and listen to us when we try to help you.

Cmon guys cut the dude some slack. Yes, auto tensioners have failed. Do you know his will for certain? No. Ive read a lot on the auto tensioner and it seems they tend to fail AFTER extensive engine upgrades that it wasnt designed to handle. Also, I know a few people who went with oem tensioners and are just fine years later. So its up to you.

In all fairness it is his car, some of the best lessons in life are free.
Won't cost him anything to leave the tensioner in.

Re: ordering parts online(not performance)

Dude not to be an ahole but seriously just buy a KZ tensioner. it will last forever. doesn't need to be replaced when you do another timing job. just spend the money man. some dude on here even made his own manual tensioner. i didn't like the looks of it at first but it works pretty well.
