i need lots of help with my car and this site lol

Hello im new to this whole forum tbing, i usually just read posts but i cant find anything that helps me with my issues so i figured id try to make my own thread. i need help posting new threads, or if someone can help me with my issues here lol. ok to start out i got a really good deal on a 92 prelude Si that someone did a motor swap in. it has the h22a4, it runs and drives good but vtec isnt hooked up, im guessing it has the stock h23 ecu, since its an obd1 car but the motor is obd2 im guessing he already swapped the injectors and stuff or im guessing it wouldnt run, what ecu would i want to use so my vtec would work? and how would i go about wiring up vtec?? since it came with a non vtec motor im guessing the vtec plug isnt on the harness. also my digital dash ( temp and fuel gauges) it will work when im starting the car but after its started it doesnt work, it worked perfect til i psrked it for a month with almost no gas in it and in the cold lol. please if someone could shed some light on my situation thatwould be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

1) Looks like you figured out how to post a thread. I'll just move it to the correct section.

2) It may infact have the H22's ECU, you'll need to tell us that. The ECU is located underneath the passenger floorboard, under a cover that's held on with like 5 10mm nuts.
If its an H22 ECU, you're good.

2a) All 4th gens, 93 and up, were pre-wired from factory for Vtec, regardless of model. Since yours is a 92, you'll need to run a single wire from the Vtec solenoid to the ECU, very easy. Just search for "wiring vtec" and you'll find which pin on the ECU you need.

3) Fuel and temp gauges start going bad after awhile. You prolly need a new fuel/temp cluster.

Thanks for the quick response, ya ill look and see what ecu i have ill have to go to storage since i havnt been driving it because of the idle purge issue, its kind of annoying so i have to put it in drive and hold the brake to keep it from doing it when i start it up, figure i just need to clean my idle air control valve. but if u could put this in the right section that would be great, and again thank you for the quick reaponse

Yup that's an H23 ECU.

So I'm thinking if the person who did the swap was too lazy to swap ECU's, they def didn't wire Vtec either, so you prolly gotta do that as well.

Ok so what ecu would u suggest? its an h22a4 with an auto trans, also since the car runs and drives does that mean that he already swapped the dizzy and injectors and everything needed from the h23 to make it run on an obd1 ecu? or would it run without swapping all that and i might be looking at more work? i was reading that u have to swap the injectors, dizzy, knock sensor and i think maybe the alternator?? from the h23 when doing this swap

Re: i need lots of help with my car and this site lol

I'm not too knowledgeable on H22 ECU's, especially on an auto. Someone else will chime in w/ that info tho.

If its running very smoothly thus far, yes it sounds like the stuff that needed swapping was done.
You def wanna keep H22 injectors since they're bigger, and H22's also have knock sensors so no swap needed there.
But the dizzy sounds like it was swapped.

When you turn the key to II or III (which ever it is where all the dash lights come on), does the CEL light up?
Just to make sure that if its throwing a code, you're seeing it.

Ya the cel is is on and i did the jumper plug thing to make it blink and made a video of it because i dont know how to read the codes, but my friend said it was 3 codes, he told me what they were but im not 100% sure, i know he said an o2 sensor and the throttle position or angle or something like that, but the 3rd code i dont remember what it was tho, i know it does the idle purge in park or neutral, iv been told i need to clean my idle air control valve to possibly fix that

Re: i need lots of help with my car and this site lol

Do you mean idle "surge" if so, thats either because your coolant is low. Or your FITV is leaky and can be adjusted... Among many other things that make the surge happen.. IACV is not too suspect, although it can happen (i guess)... mostly vac leaks, fitv, air in coolant, I dunno about the tps doing that, but i doubt it..

If you click it, info will come...
