Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

There should be a code engraved into the block somewhere.. it should say something similar to "H23A1" or "H22A2", for example. You should be able to find it by searching the front-facing part of the engine, like in your photo.
It also appears that you have a missing rubber insert where a timing light would shine to see the flywheel... I can't imagine that would be good later on..

Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

It looks like it could be the F22A1 engine in the base model, "S".

Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

Oh no.
First question: is it automatic or manual transmission.
Second question: what are your goals with this car?
Third question: what's wrong with the car you find you need to swap motors?

The answer is no. If You make a turbo setup for this engine, you will not be disappointed. You do need to look through our forums and see what we do to our preludes to decide for yourself. Pics of your prelude please and Welcome.

Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

its a standard and if it was what i thought the motor was going to be i was going to throw a cai, exhaust maybe a little more but i just wanted it for a hobby. i knew it wasnt a h22a4 ( which i thought it was ) when i saw it but i was just curious to know what was in it. i just recently bought it and that picture was taken 2 days ago when i saw it, its not on my property yet. and i will once i get the car in my name, it needs to be cleaned up and some work. Ill stay posted once i get the ball rollin.

Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

haha, kind of sounds like me. Slightly disappointed after getting the car to know all of the issues I have because mine apparently is a rust-bucket.... though, no brake lines or gas lines have blown.. *crosses fingers*.. it's a frequent occurrence here in the rust/salt belt of the Midwest.
But beside that... if all Preludes are created equally with exception to their engines, then I think you will be satisfied that the car isn't designed to be an average transportation vehicle... it has the necessary "ingredients" to be very capable.. If the intake is created equal then that means you already have a cold-air intake setup (stock) just like mine... regardless of which engine. Definitely the exhaust... who knows what has been done with it over the years. Anyways.. enjoy!

Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

it has a clutch fluid reservoir, so it should be a stick. Yep, they call the F22a1 as a boost friendly motor.

Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

but i heard its not worth it to put money into a f22a1 because you dont get any power gains. but say i did boost my lude how much hp would that bring me too? just curious. my goal was just to have a pretty quick but reliable car because the new motor on that car has less than 100km but that body has 374k which is bad because it was sitting in a marshy area so i have to clean up under the car because its all rotted out because of moisture.

Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

I don't know much about the engine.. I know if you "slap a turbo" it will go up to 200hp... I believe that engine is rated for 135hp.. I don't know if you use "Horsepower" but there are calculators online, including Google.
But... the under-body you're going to have to check it all... Most important, obviously, are the brake and fuel lines. Then of course, check the brakes themselves, the calibers might be rusty and difficult to move in and out. Make sure the rotors are safe.. check in between the front rotor's two plates to see the rust. Depending on your wheel type, on the inside of the "H" on my wheels you have to check for rust and salt build up, the cover that protects the hub nut would probably be rusted through... but depending.. I'm not sure since it was just "Sitting".
My rear cam bolts are seized due to rust and so is my O2 sensor.
check the ball joints and probably the tie-rod ends, too. ANY rubber pieces underneath, check to see if they are hardened because they might be solid and will break apart... like for my car I need to replace the stabilizer bar links because they lost the rubber insert a long time ago...
And finally... I'd imagine the exhaust will be wanted to fall apart unless it's fully stock..

Rust is nasty... but you're on the west coast right? It shouldn't be as bad as mine.. I have rusted springs.... you know, for the suspension.

Re: HELP ME WITH MY 4th GEN!

If I had to guess, I'd say around 250whp, 275wtw, at 10psi, on a T3super60 .63a/r....

.... but that's just a guess
