bad mileage/throttle response/trouble up hills/ runs kinda hot... help!

hey guys my lude is feeling reallly weak lately. pretty much every car next to me is faster and im getting embarrassed :( its getting crap mileage and i can barely climb up hills at all! also i think its running warmer than its supposed to, it never goes above red but it only takes 2 minutes in idle for the radiator fans to kick on.

i thinks its dirty fuel injectors but im no expert. the cel came on once a long time ago but i never saw it again. only mods are a cai, everything else is stock (auto tranny btw) any other ideas? o2 sensor maybe?
thanks

how is the idle? Also, last tune up? And mileage and what engine do you have?

well i think my tach is off (it jumps around for no reason), it usually says 1000 at its lowest, but cold its about 1500 or more. its much better after adjusting the fitv iacv and egr but the idle is still high when cold. last tune up was 3 months ago (plugs, wires, throttle cleaning), and change my oil alot. i reeally need a valve adjustment but i dont think that will cause the problems i have.
f22b 241000 miles auto tranny

thanks

the mech who drove it said it had absolutly no power and now im starting to notice it.

fairly slowley , the last shop i was at added about a half a quart extra over the dipstick line. and its now at the very top. and 4 days ago it was burning alot from the inside! a little scary, alot of blue smoke and burning smell. but its kinda calmed down the last 2 days. i hopes its not my valve seals or my piston rings going out!! :""( im about to get married in a month and i need it to last till i can have money again to fix it!

A valve adjustment can cause your car to run hot/overheat. It happened on mine. It stopped overheating after the valve adjustment. But your problem sounds more complex than just a valve adjustment =\. I too would check the injectors, plugs and wires, normal tune-up stuff again.

I would clean injectors and maybe a new fuel filter. Also, may be a good idea to clean up your EGR valve and ports just in case.

yeah i did the egr valve and ports 6 days ago, the car revs up to about 4000 from a stop and it barely goes anywhere! my tranny is in terrible shape i shifts very hard the first 2 gears, do you think a bad torque converter could cause a loss of power? i heard a torque converter code wont set off a cel

Maybe you should advance your timing a little. I have an auto, and after I adjusted the timing my car was a lot quicker, it was way retarded in the first place and I didn't know that. Also make sure you don't have any bad injectors, that will cause a lack of HP as well

Re: bad mileage/throttle response/trouble up hills/ runs kinda hot... help!

Im having a problem similar to yours, my car is overheating and it is leaking oil through the oil pan., and water through where the water pump is. I've seen the loss of power when accelerating and there is also bogging while accelerating you can also feel as if it is choking while in in drive (Auto Trans..) pressing both the accelerater and the stop. Im thinking it is the injectors but possible that i have a blown head gasket you might try checking that. Good luck man, my car is currently parked until i save money to do timming belt, water pump and seals.
