also check your main relay i had a similar problem as well. it is not getting enough gas to turn over and as far as your overheating problem check out your timer relay for your fans they may not even be coming on so something like that. that causes the car to overheat. try looking at that.

Are you getting gas inside the fuel filter/fuel rail. Try having someone crank the car over while you break the 17mm nut loose on the fuel filter to see if fuel is coming out. If you replace the thermostat, you might want to make sure that the main ground wire G101 is still in tact. It is a ground wire adjacent to the rear thermostat housing.

the ground wire was loose! Thanks a lot!
It continued to overheat so i took the thermostat out. That seems to have made it better, but now the speedometer goes haywire when the a/c is on? WTF? Any ideas? |

I'm not a certified mechanic....but I don't think taking the thermostat out is a good idea, that's what regulates the temp/pressure of the coolant through the block, and if the problem isn't fixed while the thermostat is in place, you could possibly, blow seals, rings, etc......or even the motor itself.
