Muffler Problem

I bought this catback exhaust on ebay and now I have a problem with the muffler.

92-96 HONDA PRELUDE CATBACK EXHAUST MUFFLER 4"RYTEC TIP | eBay

I haven't installed a muffler before but it seems like the angle of the pipe is slightly wrong, I can only get the back two hangers in but can't get the third one in and the muffler pipe presses against the right rear control arm.

Did they make the muffler wrong or do they expect me to bend it myself? Should I try hammering it to bend it more or can I have it done in some exhaust shop?

Re: Muffler Problem

its just exhaust piping not rocket science. take it to a muffler shop they will cut/weld it to make it fit.

Re: Muffler Problem

To tell you the truth, you won't generally get quality from most muffler shops, find a speedshop and you'll find your way.

Re: Muffler Problem

Got the muffler to hang from all 3 hangers but the rubber hangers are stretched. Also, the muffler presses against the control arm.

These few days were the only days when it's not cold here in Detroit and so I had to get the muffler going one way or another.

Seriously, all the mufflers on eBay looks almost the same and around the same price. There are two pipe bends, how could they screw that up?

Re: Muffler Problem

If your happy with the sound keep it. If not search around on craiglist or ebay for a good price on a good brand exhaust that won`t cost you to much. Installing an exhaust is pretty easy the only hard part is loosing up all those rusty bolts really
