steering/suspension problem?

when i turn, gentle or hard, i hear a slight "clunk" noise come from the front end. also when i turn the wheel from a standstill my RPMs drop. i was thinking that mabye its my CV joints and its just putting more stress on the power steering system becuase their bad? does anyone have any advice.

Re: steering/suspension problem?

Bad axles usually start clicking/ticking, not CLUNKing.
A CLUNK, when turning..... first thing I'd check are your swaybar endlink bushings. If the bushings deteriorated, the swaybar would move up/down about 1" total travel, of direct metal-metal contact.

It wouldn't hurt to look at the CV axle boots. If its neither of those.... I'd take a torque wrench to all the nuts/bolts on the suspension and make sure they're ALL torqued down correctly.

Re: steering/suspension problem?

yeah it is definitely sway bar end link bushings. I literally just replace mine today because of the same problem. It clunked turning left, the left side sway bar end link bushings were gone. I replaced both sides with Honda OEM bushings, problem fixed

lift car, remove old replace with new really.. it's pretty easy. scale 1-10, I'd give it a 3.

Re: steering/suspension problem?

Well it depends on how many bushings you wanna replace.
ALLLLL of them? Cuz some need to be pressed in and out, like the LCA I believe. Others are simply remove old, replace with new.

Re: steering/suspension problem?

but yeah if you want to replace all of your bushings, then you may need another car to drive because if you are doing it yourself it may take a day or two. plus you will need a hydraulic press of some sort to do it. maybe a ball joint press that you could rent from autozone could help on a few of them. I still have to do all of my control arm bushings. can't wait

Re: steering/suspension problem?

so you just remove the old endlink bushings and put the new ones on? or do you have to seperate them by removeing a bolt? and where exactly is it located. i honestly have no clue what a sway bar is
