Icon5 Future of the Prelude?

My main question is how much do you think our preludes will be worth in 10 to 20 years from now? I have a 93 vtec with 116,000 miles on it with mods in storage for the winter. But with life getting to busy for the lude(Kids, work, new house, baby on the way etc...). I am basically wondering if its worth holding on to for a future resale value of our fathers classic cars?

Re: Future of the Prelude?

That's what I'm thinking and i don't want to be unrealistic about it. I love my prelude and don't wanna get rid of it but thinking if i can get $5,000 for it i'll be happy. At the same time I don't think I will find a better one in the future and will always kick my self in the ass for selling this one.

Re: Future of the Prelude?

And almost once a month someone is totaling there car so it its gonna make it harder to find one in the future. I'm so frustrated, wish i had the money and a bigger garage so it wasn't a problem taking up space.

Re: Future of the Prelude?

I sold mine for 1400 last year. And there's no way in HELLLL that they're going to APPRECIATE! Obviously to prelude owners, preludes mean a lot to them and they're going to THINK that they're going to be worth a decent dime in the future, but when all is said and done, its just a sporty Honda.

How much are Preludes going for right now that are 10 years older than yours with over 100K on the ODO? That should give you a fair idea..

Re: Future of the Prelude?

Any vehicle will have a following, some more than most. When i'm talkin shop with "parts guys" or just total strangers i mention my FC and the first questions out of their mouths are "does it run?? and is if for sale??" Any car that had that secret engine/chassis combination will always hold value with somebody somewhere.

Re: Future of the Prelude?

Thanks for the help guys I had High expectations for a future turn around but i guess there really isn't a future for the prelude. I'm not hurting really for money just Garage space and time to put it on the road in the summer and maintain it. But if I can get 5 grand for it it's gone!!paid 4500 for it 3 years ago and came with extra transmission. I just love the memories i have of my teen years and the different styling and rarity of the car but we'll see.

Re: Future of the Prelude?

oh, and i paid just over 2k for mine with 196k and an H22 with every leaking gasket causing a quart to disappear over and around 200-400 miles. yah, i'm about to be INVESTED into this damn honda. Seems well worth it given the community and following these cars have, any problem i may encounter has already been encountered by someone else. Always a comfort knowing you're not alone, especially when it comes to automotive.

This is the truth. This scares me more than not being able to find a lude. I know i'm keeping mine, but when gas gets so damn expensive that we cant afford to drive regular gasoline cars we'll all be in trouble.

oh damn.. I don't even want to think about that right now lol

I would keep the car if I were you man. I mean it's a clean, low mileage, VTEC prelude. Those are getting harder and harder to come by. You know you'll regret it come summer time. Go to Lowe's and get a damn shed if you need space! lol

That's a good idea just gotta convince the wife why we gotta buy a shed because the car is not taking up to much space.

I wish I would put my lude in the shed for the winter, I just got out of highschool and poured all my life into making money to get my lude, (totally worth it). I die a little inside each time I have to drive my prelude through the slushy snow...

PM me for a winter car donation!

I think most cars will be fuel cell or EVs in the future.

But, I think there will be a huge market to retrofit older cars with newer engines. I think engine manufacturers will come up with Honda engine bay compatible engines.

Re: Future of the Prelude?

Ill never sell my baby. I had crazy offers up to 10k (damn skippy!). This car has more meaning to me more than just a vehicle, it was someones imagination and dreams coming true.

Even though it holds sentimental value...later down the road it'll just be another cute Honda.
