My 95 VTEC Restoration

Let me first say that I'm not really sure if this was the right place to post this. I didn't want to start a member's ride thread until it was or near stock. I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place. Okay with that being said, I bought the car for $600 dollars the guy told me It was knocking, had a gay body kit on it (not his words), no carpet, told me it was a h23 , etc. You guys will see from the pics of what I'm talking about so lets get started.

I know not the best looking but hey it wont rust.

Horrible body kit...

Does anyone know what brand this exhaust is?

Re: My 95 VTEC Restoration

So earlier today at school I had my motor and trans dropped off so I could start looking over why it was knocking. The trans was surprisingly smooth going through the gears, socked the hell out of me.

surprisingly clean considering its been sitting. First thing I did was remover the valve cover to check everything there which turned out good. Forgot to take pics of it, get some tomorrow

Decided to take the header off it was pretty nasty.

This is after I cleaned it up with a wire wheel. Oh and if anyone knows the brand of the header plz let me know.

Then I did a base coat on it. It was in the process of drying when I left school.
Well after that my instructor told me it was time to clean up shop so what do i do?

Hurried up and took the pan off to find out that there was a little stick in the pan and it chewed a rod bearing..
Its not that bad though, I used king bearing when I rebuilt my H23 but I was wondering besides the OEM bearings what other one be a good choice. Kings where ok but I want something closer to the OEMs. The honda dealership in the city over is wanting like $225 for them. Is that worth it?

God that interior looks exactly how mine was when I first got it (but red).
Looks like you might have some work on your hands.
Not a 100% sure; but that header looks like the stock one.

I would do it again as long as I had enough cash.
So today I didnt get around to working on it much had to do other things at school. Anyway I pulled the cap of and this is what I find.

No bearing at all chewed the every bit of it up.

The crank has some little scores on it. The crank isnt saveable its way under min spec...

Im going to need more $$$$ lol

Re: My 95 VTEC Restoration

So going to do the whole rebuild. I had some doubts weather I should or just fix the bearing and crank problem but I'd rather rebuild it the way I want. I'm waiting on some eagle rods to get in and I'm going with the type s piston, don't have enough money to sleeve it. Ill be adding a list of things I'm getting for it later on after I get the whole thing tore completely apart and cleaned.

Re: My 95 VTEC Restoration

Ok guys its been a while since I've been on here. Not alot has happened in the past however many days, weeks, or whatever its been. As of right now out of funds to keep buying parts for my lude but I did get the eagle rods and the skunk 2 pro 2 cams for it. I also traded my other lude for a 93 d15b 5speed civic so I would have kid room. Anyway anyone know in the TN area where to get my block honed?

To my understanding you have to have special honing rock in able to hone FRM, correct? I'll call around to see if they carry the right kind.

true. And honing FRM should only be done by a machine shop.

NOTE: For darton dry sleeve's, its around 900 installed. Just saying.

Re: My 95 VTEC Restoration

This is still a on going project with me. In about a month it will be getting painted. I have received the my skunk2 pro2 cams as well as my eagle rods. Looking for a job now because I'm about to be out of school so money is a little scarce until I get my last grant check from school. The only things I'm lacking right now is a new crank, bearings, type s pistons, gaskets, valve train, etc, etc. My next check I'll be getting pistons and skunk2 pro spings and retainers, maybe some new oem valves. Haven't had internet for which is the reason I haven't been on in a while. Anyway the project is still underway and that flame will not die out anytime soon!!!
