No Vtec

Hey guys, im new to this forum and i tried searching what im trying to figure out... i recently bought a 92 prelude si , it was already swapped to a JDM H22A from the stock H23 . the guy i bought it from beat the crap out of it threw dirt roads, anywheres you name it.. i got up under neath it the other day on my hoist and noticed the down pipe, right on the bend was dented in and its restricting the exhaust down to about 1/2 inch of flow. Now, my understanding of V-Tec is the Varible valve timing which allows the valves to open up, expelling more exhaust and sucking more are, so since the exhaust is kinked in a bit would this make the vtec not work? it makes since to me that it would. I know i have to change the downpipe obviously but im just trying to figure out the vtec issue too.

thanks fellas. - Brandon

Re: No Vtec

I think PZ needs a "no vtec" sticky.................

The downpipe could be the issue, but so could 93245748397 other things.

IMO nope.

have you enough oil there? oil pressure switches vtec on.
so check

- oil level
- oil pressure switch
- vtec solenoid & gasket & wires

or then its ecu & ecu wire problem
