Icon2 Getting a full aluminum radiator, so which one hoses do you recommend?

My radiator decided want to give me the ****, so it give me a good reason to buy a full aluminum radiator. When I bought my lude back in April 2011, the previous owner purchased a set of yellow radiator hoses. (upper and down) It is the best for racing kind (whatever you call) that will last LONG TIME, but sucks is that it is yellow, so now Im asking you which one should I buy stock radiator hoses off advance discount parts/autozone/napa OR reuse mine and paint heat black paint it and keep it? LMK, thanks luders!

PS: I know samco hoses are best of the best, I wish I have the $ for it. oh well.

I'd be more concerned with the condition of the hoses, rather than what they look like.

Re: Getting a full aluminum radiator, so which one hoses do you recommend?

silicone hoses are not going to take well to paint. they make them in different colors, so buy what you want.

I've used the mishimoto ones with great results, but there are quite a few people that use the samco ones as well.

X2
Idda got Samco or Gates too but I have a Mishimoto radiator and cap so I just went with their black hoses.

Personally, I've never heard anything bad about the OBX hoses despite them generally being a ricer brand. Apparently they have good coolant hoses which are probably made by Samco or Gates.

Re: Getting a full aluminum radiator, so which one hoses do you recommend?

The yellow hoses Im using is still good. No leak or worn or crack or anything like that. So which one do you recommend me to reuse mine and paint "heat paint black" on it (yellow don't look right on my engine bay) or go buy stock hoses from local part store?

Only heat paint, it does. Not the regular paint.

Re: Getting a full aluminum radiator, so which one hoses do you recommend?

Some people would prefer to get it than spending 25 for stock hoses or 40 for aftermarket. I'll just sell it for 5 or whatever.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

I bought red OBX hoses and they leaked this red spooge from both ends and ruined my clean bay. They are absolutely horrible. The bottom one wouldn't even fit because the end that went to the lower radiator port was oversized and wouldn't seal to the radiator.

Never EVER buy OBX crap!

I learned the hard way.

Wow, you're the first I've heard of, but thanks for posting that.
I'd never put it on my car anyway.

I do know their valve covers come from Honda though... They just shave the writing and re-powdercoat it. However, the letter-shaving tends to be done very ****tily.

The only product I've ever bought or ever will buy from OBX was those hoses. I'm absolutely against them now. Cost me around $70 for a top hose that leaked and a bottom hose that didn't fit. Basically spent $70 to dull my razor because I cut them into shreds. I did some research before I bought them, and it looks like a 50/50 chance they will leak goop. The stupid optimist in me took the chance and lost. I wouldn't recommend it, lol.
