H23 BUILD

I Have not seen this a thread for this yet so I figured I would ask, I am wanting information on H23 NON VTEC upgrades, reviews, ideas. What parts from other motors can be put on for more hp.

Re: H23 BUILD

The BS is because of your spelling of VTEC. It is not vtech, Vtec, V-tec, or VtEc.

Vtech is a brand of phone.

VTEC is Honda thing.

Re: H23 BUILD

Well, you could put a H22 VTEC head on the 23 block...

But for the most part aftermarket parts will be needed for horsepower gains on the H23. There aren't any OEM Honda parts from other engines that will make any gains on the 2.3 that I know of.

Re: H23 BUILD

It depends on what you're looking for. I/H/E is obviously the basic which is pretty simple and easy to find, but more than that is very difficult to find for the h23 such as the cams, pistons and rods set. It all depends on how far you want to go. I've had to look and research a lot into it because of the similarities that my engine has with the h23. Not many people modify the h23 but it can be done.

Re: H23 BUILD

OK my bad about the vtec. vtech deal. lol
I already have done I/H/E I am wondering what about the TB off the h22 its bigger? and i though intake manifold, port& polish on the head with different cams should push it pretty good.

Re: H23 BUILD

Building an h23a1 will cost you more then building an h22a because not alot of people make parts for the h23a1. If you don't have 2g to drop on a motor you won't have enough money to build an h23.

Re: H23 BUILD

Not so sure an H23 block would stand up to the high revs an H22 head would ask for, I've looked into it and it would have cost a great deal more than the H22A I just swapped in. One thing to note, 4th generation H-Series had a recall for the seal at the front balancer shaft. At high mileage and high revs you will blow that seal eventually leading to rod failure, and that's the condition you will be creating throwing on a VTEC head without going over that block.

FWIW I just got my H22A for $800.00 and have seen them online for the same price. There is NO comparison between the two engines and I still have my stock tranny and I'm not well-tuned yet.

In short, use the H23 as a boat anchor...
