3 lobes= vtec?

i dont know what engine i have the transmission says f22b which is for an accord i think, but mines a dohc.

the valve cover doesnt say vtec, but there are 3 lobes for each piston on each camshaft. that means i have vtec right??

sorry still a total noob lol thanks guys

if it has a middle cam lobe and its bigger profile than the other 2 than its MOST likely a vtec.lol

yeah it has the 3 lobes with the bigger one in the middle! and im pretty sure i do not have the original transmission or even the original engine for that matter lol its still a mystery to me then.

so the f and h series are the same but the h is the american name??

well...the easiest way to tell if you have vtec would be to hit vtec lol, unless of course it isn't working properly.

Should say sohc or dohc on the valve cover

Regardless vtec head will have a p13 stamp on the head an say dohc vtec lol

Valve covers are not interchangable unless its f22b an or h23

lol says nothing on the valve cover at all lol just the honda emblem!

the head says pt2 on the side, idk if that the right number lol

i didnt notice anything when i redlined the car maybe the vtec needs to be reset or something

look for the vtec solenoid....its located top left of the VC on the side of the head!
