Re: Prelude Ideas

Get some rims.
Throw a wing on there.
Lower it 1/2 inch.
Throw some stickers on the window.
Tint your headlights for the jdm coolness.
Tint your taillights then clear with duplicolor sparkle clear coat.
put some underglow so people can see you drive in the dark.
Get a Nismo windshield banner. Now you're a racecar ;)

I say come up with a theme for your car. For example I want to go all Mugen on mine. But like everyone else is saying its all about your budget. Look on members ride section for some inspiration.

Lets try to keep it somewhat serious guys???

I guess most most most basic performance... Which doesnt really affect much would be a Intake, header, and exhaust. Intake, idk much about, I never had one, I skipped those and went straight to ITB's (individual throttle bodies). Header, look at hytech reps (or the real deal), a rmf, smsp. But no DC or ebay. Its junk. Exhaust maybe a custom exhaust with a vibrant resonator and muffler, you could go skunk2, apexi.

If you want to go more. You could get a better Intake manifold. Maybe a skunk2 pro series. Or one of Rosko's euro r manifolds. (Rosko racing) Rosko has been proven to make results.

If you got to the last point and decided to do it, I would suggest then buying a p28 ecu (cheaper from a single cam vtec motor) or a p72 (from a gsr i believe) Chip it with hondata, and tune it. Then move on...

after that its really internall things like pistons. But before that I would look at cams. You can get cams from skunk2, crower, or brian crower. Same for valvetrain from the above countries.

My only and last question. Turbo or all motor? Turbo will obviously make more power for cheaper.... But something about all motor makes it fun. :)

Not many believe it but I put a nice big John Deere sticker on my Lude and saw major performance gains.

The guy asked a question.... Stop getting off track, and lets try and help him out.

I mean Preludezone is known to be the closest prelude forum....

As far as sites go. I just look up parts on google shopping, lots of parts will come up from various sources. You need to find out what you may want, then look up the specific part in google shopping. ALSO, ebay can be an awesome parts source, as long as you are smart about it, buy from authorized dealers with good reputation and reviews. And you will be ok. :)

Let me know if you need any help at all.

Re: Prelude Ideas

Yes. It all depends what you are doing.

You can buy an AEM fuel rail without getting new injectors. But that will add little to no performance gain.

Re: Prelude Ideas

Can you have non smog exempt parts? If so...go all out.

I would go check out some turbo build threads or na. Since looks aren't the issue, no need for the picture thread.

Cody some of us HAVE to rock DC junk, we aren't a smog exempt state here. Ooo boy if you understood the requirements for BAR reffing in Cali. Lol

Are you being 100% truthfull with us about this. In a previous thread you said you were 16. I did alot of buying for my car when I was 16, but **** was not steady. :P

I want to help you as much as possible cause I love helping other kids like myself get into the scene. But I have to know realistically where you are at before I can actually suggest something of decent value.

I hope you understand.

Re: Prelude Ideas

My only input is to consult with us before you buy ANYTHING. I don't want you to be one of those kids who buys $200 cam gears and a fuel rail then comes on here bitchin' about no performance gain. Get useful stuff. Boost is the best bang for your buck, but some nice cams with I/H/E can make a nasty NA set-up foundation.

16... well in that case: get few years driving experience first

that age + even stock preludes power = ending up crashing your car much likely before you are 20

cannot buy everything

Re: Prelude Ideas

Well sir... Mugen would like to have a word with you.

sky's the limit bro, u can have whatever u like...
dont skimp on tires or AUDIO

I'd have to agree with TypeT on this one tho...
Although u dont sound TOO eager, U were kinda, vague but sincere in your op. Which leads me to believe your not just a punk looking for a turbo and fart can exhaust and to race from light to light in traffic..
Now as far as body goes, thats where i would start, make sure the chassis is straight (bodyshop will do that for u) and strong. You may find some poop down there since it's a 93. If u have no water leaks then thats good too. trunk, interior rust is a bitch...
Then suspension, bushings, and motor and tranny mounts, then engine work can begin
I personally would ALWAYS leave interior and exterior for the end, u dont want either to be damaged too much during the whole other process, there will be a lot of getting in and out of the vehicle and leaning over the fenders and fluids splashing and babies crying. You may want to wait for the aesthetic
part of it all.. Then audio.
All i can say is do ALOT of research, on things u like and things u dont like about and for the Lude, it will teach u many things.. Ive had my car since July 2010 and im half way through my 2nd time through reading a LOOONG ass pdf manual for it. ITS HELPED ME IMMENSELY !!!! As well as my bookmarks if u could see how many bookmarks ive got from threads and items, most i read about and throw away, but some i keep..
Just trying to lay some groundwork here for u, i love 4th gens and im in the process of getting serious about mine in the next year or so, but i will start on the chassis for dam sure. So far ive done stuff like new iacv, timing belt, waterpump, cat converter, flex pipe, alternator and ps pump belts, half ass cold air intake (WITH A GOOD FILTER THO!!), exedy oem clutch kit, dc release bearing (dont know if its good at all, but i saw it on the receipt, that reminds me to read up about it), a competition clutch 8 pound flywheel, and new master and slave clutch cylinders.
When i bought the car i stripped the interior down to the metal back to the trunk (and most of the dashboard), and i just let loose with damp rags and simple green spray for about 8 hours or so maybe more. Took out the seat belts, ABS unit, wiped behind it, took plastic membrane off, wiped behind it, basically got in all the nooks and crannies and took out anything that was bolted in and got a 92 to look new. The dust was crazy layered behind all the vinyl trim, and i cant tell how much coffee was spilt' and dried under the carpet over the years before i got the ride. I shampooed the carpet with a small machine in my house.

I dont know what else i can touch on here, if u want a new engine then beat this one down till its toast, and take care of that precious prelude body, just be safe in that thing. and remember u cant drift in a FWD !!

loooongggaaaaaaasssspoooostttt i know, sorry... it aint 420 for nothing !!

how long do u even want to keep this car should be the ultimate gauge of how deep u go down the prelude hole, ill have mine forever or till chevron dries up...
