Re: Water pump out ?

sometimes when i water pump goes, you'll hear that loud squeal.
if you have higher mileage, never changed it or your timing belt, kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Yes they can squeel like a rabbit getnshot in the foot!buy the Timing belt kit that comes with ,Timing belt, waterpump. idler pulley, Timing belt tensioner, balance shaft belt. It will obviously cost more but its insurance for the future. Gator makes a good timing belt kit set.

Re: Water pump out ?

I've ran into a Toyota water pump that howls when it's cold due to a bad bearing. Besides that, I have not come across one in a Honda.

And no, it's not normal for a water pump to squeal.

Re: Water pump out ?

Most likely your bearings went out and the metal impellers are scraping against the housing on the inside?

Change your timing belt and components while you're down there.

Re: Water pump out ?

your right in the fact that I have never heard of one squeeling either. But i have seen the bearings so bad that it had started rubn on the inside housing. I couldnt figure out how someone would let it get that bad?
