what is this?

I was looking over my engine, and noticed the tube (#2) coming from #1 is not connected to anything...first off, what is #1 ?

I thought it hooked into the intake somewhere, but there is no nipple on the AEM intake where it would hook on to...

thank you

Re: what is this?

I believe it is the Idle Air Control Valve.

The bottom side of your hood should have a vacuum system diagram that can help identify where to plug it in.

Re: what is this?

Nope, it's not the IACV. IACV don't have vacuum hose going to it. Instead, it's mounted against the IM where there's already two vacuum ports for it to help maintain a steady idle with a two pin connector from the engine harness, thats all to it.

OP, your hand is in the way to where I want to look at, so I can figure out where it's gonna hook up to.

Re: what is this?

Number 1 is the Air Boost Valve/Starting Air Valve.

It's supposed to plug into the nipple on the air intake itself. You can just eliminate it with a block off plate if you want. IIRC, the JDM engines didn't even come with one.

The IACV has no vacuum ports. It's controlled by coolant temperature. It is mounted in the front center of the intake manifold with a connector and two coolant lines.
