Clutch for H22A
Hello,
I have to change clutch on my prelude…so I was looking around and found this one, which is really not so expensive: F1 RACING STAGE 1 CLUTCH KIT HONDA H-SERIES H22A Any experience with this one? (I know that OEM or Exedy stage 1 would be better but they are just too expensive at the moment.) |

Re: Clutch for H22A
how is it good idea to get something cheap and then after year get the good product when the cheap one fails?

Re: Clutch for H22A
Exedy clutch kits are cheaper?
EXEDY DAIKIN OE STANDARD COMPLETE CLUTCH PRO-KIT SET | eBay Don't order that one in specific because I don't know if it's the right one, I was just grabbing an example.

Re: Clutch for H22A
F*ck F1 Racing Clutch Kit. I got one when I first dropped in my H22. First time at the track, the F1 Racing clutch overheated on me and wouldn't let me go into second gear which I got stuck in Nuetral and coasted down the drag strip.
I went with an Exedy Stage 1 clutch and have never look back. Do it right, Do it once!

Re: Clutch for H22A
My brother had an Exedy OEM clutch in his JDM GSR and does not have any problem like I had with my F1 Racing. F1 Racing way cheaper quality compared to Exedy OEM. Can't withstand high heat.

Re: Clutch for H22A
I agree with almost everything you guys wrote!
But…I don’t plan to upgrade and I don’t visit race tracks. I just want daily drive clutch… that’s the reason why I looked at these “low budget” clutch kits. Bottom line…according to all posts I found and your opinions it’s still better to buy bullet proof kit such as exedy. THX! ![]() |

![]() They give you torque capactity on the actual clutch. This appears even on eBay... Duh, stage 1 is one up from OEM. Stage 1 from eBay exedy information: "Torque Capacity: 249 ft-lbs" Stage 2 from eBay exedy information: "Torque Capacity: 282 ft-lbs" I love research. You know, if you wouldn't have irritated me before, I wouldn't be making you look like an idiot.

Re: Clutch for H22A
Hey guys,
Just wanted to say thanks for all your help about choosing right clutch! It took my some time, but I found an OE Exedy clutch for ridiculous price ![]() I have additional question about break in time - organic discs need whats called settling time because of the materials used to make them, if I'm correct? I guess that anywhere from 300-500 miles will do for break in? But what exactly does this “break in time” mean? I found this while researching: "...You can redline it or give it full throttle all you want, but when shifting gears you can't do a hard hookup into the next gear. Push the clutch in and let it grab slow.....no hard shifting..." Do you agree with that? Here're pictures ![]() ![]() |

Re: Clutch for H22A
500 miles should be good, when i replaced my clutch i went 600 miles or so and after that it felt perfect
