Prelude doesn't start in the heat

I know this isn't very important now that it's becoming winter, but in North Carolina, it can random become hot in the winter. But whenever I turn on my car in my drive way(made out of rocks), in the shade, at night, when it's cold, etc it turns on fine(besides sometimes ill have to rev the engine when I first start the car or else the RPMs will drop straight to zero and stall out). But if it's hot (usually more than 80 degrees) and im parked in a parking lot, and it's sitting there for a while(i.e. school) it won't turn on, itll sound like it has no gas, but if i open my doors and let it 'cool off' for about 5-10 minutes, itll turn on fine, does anyone have any ideas why this is?

x3... Been there, done that. I'd definately try with resoldering the points on your relay that is in the car now. I'm pretty sure I paid like $80-90 for a new one from Honda (local dealership)

Re: Prelude doesn't start in the heat

like he said. no question its your main fuel relay, above 100 degrees [cabin temp] it will not function. buy a new one, it will do the same thing after a little while.

Well, i'll wait till the summer comes around, it doesn't mess up if it's too cold does it?

Nope, you're probably fine. If it does just give it 5 minutes for the brisk winter air to cool it down

Re: Prelude doesn't start in the heat

actually it does have an effect in the cold as well, I still have the occasional no start in the winter, much less regularity than in the heat though

That's strange, maybe I'll fix mine before I get caught out in the cold!

Re: Prelude doesn't start in the heat

just did the solder fix, video must have been on a civic relay I think it said, wasnt easy to pop out circuit board at all. and my relay had about 5 different circuit junctions that were suspect, so I just ordered another relay. that video fix is ok, but if your relay is as bad as mine, dont even bother, just get a new one.
