rpm/speedometer lights wont come on

Alright I bought a 92 with a 94 jdm h22a 2 years ago and ever since Id bought it the rpm and speedometer lights don't work work. The turn signal lights work, and high beam light ,and the ABS light comes on but not the other 2. I've checked fuses, even completely replaced the speedometer, checked bulbs but for the life of me I can't figure out why they won't come on. The guy I bought the car from said it just needed to be replaced haha. So I currently have one of the autozone cheapo lights attached to my dash to light my speedometer. I'm no electrician but I don't won't to pay a ton of money to find out its a simple short. I also have had an issue with a bouncy idle when its cold outside and/or my headlights/AC/heat are on, so a load on the alternator. Don't know if these two are linked but I suppose its possible. If anyone has any I put into one or the other, that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance pz members.

Re: rpm/speedometer lights wont come on

your bouncy, cold weather idle is caused by a faulty IACV it would seem. The FITV may also be bad, but since the other symptoms mean its a bad idle air control valve, the FITV may still be sending the proper signal to the IACV to bump up engine speed, but the IACV is not doing it...
The speedometer prob could be as simple as losing ground, you have to move to checking wires for continuity, I can try to find the contacts in the manual for u if u have a multimeter.

Well I've bypassed the iacv haven't had it over a year maybe it could still cause an idle problem who knows. And yea a link would be great to the voltage. Thanks man

Re: rpm/speedometer lights wont come on

Well then your fitv may be leaking, would be my guess.. Did u put a plate over it ? Or u got a different manifold ?
It is because the IACV is missing that things die out and dim when operating. Heat, lights, defrost, power steering etc...
Here is a little test, let your car warm up then park it, let the idle decide where it wants to be, then turn the steering wheel just a tiny bit, It should bump up the idle to maintain, but since u dont have an IACV anymore, it probably wont maintain, in which case, it will always be like that and something u gotta put up with... :)
You can delete the FITV if u want, just give it 14-1600 rpm when starting cold for a minute.
Ill look up the wiring and test point between fuse box to switch, and switch to lights, I don't think its a relay, but it could be, gimme a day or so, ill find it..
