Icon5 Stripped Bolt hole

So i recently found out that the bolt hole of the passenger side front left seat is stripped. How would i go about fixing this? I can get a new bolt easy but i have no idea on how to fix this.

Re: Stripped Bolt hole

Need to re-thread the whole, buy a tap and die set that has the right size you need, mm size it will be im guessing, or sometimes they will sell at sears or harbor freight stores like that the tool you need to re-thread seperately so you wont have to spend as much money on a full set. Make sure you buy some cutting oil to help during the re-thread process.

Re: Stripped Bolt hole

Is the hole just stripped? If it is you can do what 92lude said.

Or did the bolt actually snap off and is still inside the hole?
Cuz then you need to extract the bolt, which is a world of PITA.

Re: Stripped Bolt hole

If the threads are just damaged by cross-threading, you might be able to clean them up with a tap in the right size. Go very slowly, and take it in stages -- a few turns in, back out and clean the hole, a few turns further in, back out.... If they're truly stripped out, then you'll have to rethread the hole, but keep in mind you're now tapping the hole to a larger size, and will require a different bolt to fit.
